Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Michael Anthony Callin

Unfortunately over my 44 year career in law enforcement in Missouri and Florida I have witnessed such sad things as an officer serving his community paying the ultimate sacrafice. He, like the others are heros for sure as is those who serve our country abroad. God Bless him, his family and all who serve.

Officer Callin, your service is remarkable. Thank you for protecting us. You are a true hero. Please know that you and your family are in my heart and in my thoughts always.

Please Rest in Peace.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 7th anniversary year of your death. I am privileged to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Thanks to your family and friends for sharing their devotion to you through their reflections. I share the agony of your parents in losing a beloved child which surely has to be life's greatest sorrow. I am glad that your sister is continuing your family's legacy of protecting and serving, and I am sure you are proud of her.

Michael,

It is Christmas time and this year it has been especially tough. Never a day goes by my son that I do not think about you but each day brings us one day closer to the day we will meet again. You are a son (a man) of honor and I am I very proud of you. Your sister Christina makes us proud as well as she continues her work as a deputy in Orange. We will continue on!

I talk about you often. There's parts of me that wish I was more like you. I teach about you. I use your incident to make sure new Police Recruits know what they're getting into. Your Mom and Dad have spoken to a class of mine. Your legacy continues to this day! We all miss you and have NOT forgotten!

Deputy Callin,
I found out recently that we are related through my mother's side of the family. I am sorry we never had the chance to meet. It is an honor to call you part of my family, sir, both in blood and law enforcement. Thank you for your sacrifice and service. May you forever rest in peace.

Mike,

I can not believe it's been 5 years. I wear a green band on my wrist with your name and date you passed away so that I can be reminded everyday of your friendship and kindness. I miss you brother. I think about the OCSO everyday and wish I had stayed. I wish I had listened to you.

Today, I went to an officers funeral from the Winston-Salem Police Dept. who tragically burned to death after hitting a tree while enroute assisting another officer on a DWI. Please be with him as I know you will find him.

I miss you Mike. Your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I never met you but I went to the police academy with your sister. I still remember the pain our entire class felt and what the instructors went thru. My brother is now a Deputy with OCSO and I have spoken of you a few times with him. Watch over him while he is there.

You have had a major impact on more than the people that have met you. Your name runs across the sleeve of my academy shirt and I think about what happened to you every night before I start my shift. Rest in peace.

Mike -

It's hard to believe five years have already passed since you were so cruelly taken from us. I know that you and Brandon are both enjoying the rewards of the virtue you displayed while here with us, and it is reassuring to know that we have angels on our shoulders.

Until we meet again...

Mike,

There isn't a day that goes by that I do not think of that horrible day. The void in our lives left by this tragic event is still there today. You are missed and you will never be forgotten.

Hey Mike,
It's been 5 yrs now and the pain of not having you, your smile and presence is still so fresh, yet in many ways it seems like it's been forever as not a day goes by that I dont wish things were back the way they were..You were a great friend and buddy, but really more like a son to me. We had such good times together wakeboarding and restoring vettes and mustangs and talking always about everything. I have so many irreplaceable memories. I really miss you Michael. We are golfing on your day next week in your honor so your legacy lives on thru fine young deserving men and women. Looking forward to seeing your family, but oh how emotional it is for us who are left here without you. I know you were not a fan of tattoos, but it felt right to get my one and only tattoo in memory and honor of you and i will never regret it. I have heard it said that you looked up to me, but brother I fall so short of your life example. You my good friend lived your life as a hero for the Lord and you died a hero for us all.

Four years to the day...you have no idea how much you are missed. I am sorry I have not been to visit you, but maybe today; we have many things to catch up on. Even after this long it seems surreal and impossible to believe you were torn from this life. Well brother, your presence is still felt in my life and in spite of all my shortcomings I hope you would still be proud of me.

With great respect,
Ben

Hey Mike,

I am always thinking of you wishing you were still here making us laugh and feel complete. Amanda just had her third baby you would of loved the twin boys Michael and Jason and little baby girl Alana. One of the twin boys is named after you. Josh and I are still trying to get settled in our new home while figuring out how to train our new puppy Hudson from chewing up everything. Mom and dad are really enjoying being grandparents. They have been a huge help to Amanda and Larry while they adjust to being parents of three kids under the age of 1. Vicki is a teacher in Orlando and continues to be a remarkable young woman. You would be so proud of your wife.
I can still feel your presence in my life by remembering our many family gatherings of cookouts on the lake, birthday celebrations, and game nights. You will always be in my life through the memories you left for us. I smile knowing the day will come when we will see you again. :)

Dear Mikey,

Today you would have been thirty years old. I miss you so much. It is so hard to believe that it has been so long since I have heard your laugh or your voice and seen your smile. Not a day goes by that I dont think of you and miss you greatly. Until you were taken from me you had always been in my life as my big brother. There are no words to describe the loss I feel without you. I hope you are still looking out for your little sis from heaven. I love you. Happy Birthday Michael!

Love Chrissy
