Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David Stan Piquette

Deputy Piquette, I had the honor and privilege to run in your memorial run with my class, it was the most inspirational and motivational events I've ever been apart of. Seeing the LASD family come out in support of their brother was truly a great experience. Thank you for what you did for this great country and for our department. Gone, but never forgotten, thank you.

Deputy Piquette, it was an honor being a part of your memorial run. As a class we ran up your hill. Running up your hill gave us all spirit and it also showed us what it means to be in law enforcement. The brotherhood and sisterhood that showed up was incredible. You are truly an inspiration. Tomorrow I will honor your memory by participating in your memorial run. It's unfortunate that bad things happen to good people, but by holding their memory intact and not letting their death be in vain, they can live long past their time on this Earth. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten. The world is a better place for your service to both your country and your community. Thank you.

We just had your memorial run. All your friends still remember you. We could never forget you. Lisa and her family came and helped decorate your memorial with balloons and flowers. I have a friend at flower shop, Lorena, and she donates flowers to you every week. Dad and I put them on the freeway for you. We love and miss you a lot. I think of you every single day.

Dave, you were a guest coach for IHS Wrestling while I was on the team and over the years I've often thought about how you carried yourself when you visited us in the mat room. You set a good example for young people to look up to. I still include you in the group of LE professionals who I try to honor when I train, I remember you not for how you died, but for how you lived. To me, that is your legacy. May God continue to watch over your family and your colleagues.

Hi Uncle Dave, I haven't talked to you in awhile. You were on my mind tonight. I miss you a lot. I'm in Ireland right now, studying and exploring a different life. I think you'd be proud of me. Today I realized I've forgotten what your voice sounded like. I never thought I would get to a day where I could not remember what it sounded like to hear that you love me. Needless to say it was a rough day. I wish you were still with us and that I could call you. I've forgotten crucial elements of you, like the sound of your voice, and that breaks my heart. Do not be upset. I miss you. I love you. Looking at all of the other reflections, I know that others miss you and love you as well. Lots of love Uncle Dave, lots of love.
