The memorial to Deputy Piquette at the academy is beautiful. I saw it a couple of weeks ago and the fresh flowers, decorations and flags are such a fitting tribute. He was my instructor and I will always remember what he pounded into our heads - "watch the hands".

Four years ago the life of a great man was cut short. Your life will always be remembered for the way you carried yourself. I still remember boot camp and you constant conversations about VW's. RIP old friend and may GOD bless your family and may he bring comfort to your wife and beautiful children.

I wanted to Thank you all of my brother's Marine Corp buddies who write on this website in memory of my brother. He loved being in the Marine and took great honor in serving his country and serving with those who share his same desire to make the world a safer place for the rest of us. Even while in the Sheriff, he still shines his shoes and kept his hair short. My mom remembers sending packages to him and to many of you while serving on the Roosevelt. She still has a soft spot to all those serving our country. And has all the videos he made while on the Roosevelt. Thank you again for remembering

Hi Uncle Dave, The memorial run was a week ago and it went great. Leah, Mom and me ran for you. Mom just had knee surgery so she was walking/running but she wasn't very fast. I was running ahead of her. You would've thought that it was funny and starting teasing her. The hill we run is the same hill that you ran before the accident. I have to say that you know how to choose hills, Uncle Dave because the hill was really hard but it was fun. We miss you and love you so much.

Hi David, just wanted to let you know that for your memorial run all the force instuctors and deputies from different stations ran for you. Plus, I invited two commanders to honor and be there for you. Lisa, Leah, Kaitlyn, and Liam were there running for you too, because we know how much you love to run. It warmed my heart to see everyone honoring you that day. It was awesome and put tears in my heart because I was so happy. Dad and I still have the pain of losing you in our hearts but we still think of you everyday and miss you dearly. We love you very very much. Please help keep us safe till the day we join you.
We all love you for forever.

Another year has gone. Where does time go? Your twins are growing up so fast. 7 years old already. Shawna loves those kids so much. We see you in both of them everyday. You would be so proud of Shawna and the twins. Some of us went to the cemetary today, some of us went to the memorial at the freeway site. And some of us stayed home to comfort Shawna and the kids. A group of people gathered at your water fall in the front yard. Of course, Jim told one of his stories about you and made everyone laugh. Your anniversary of you leaving this world has passed, but you are so alive in our hearts everyday, You are so missed, but left a life time of memories and pictures for us all. Shawna doens't write on this memorial page but reads it everyday. She says her house will always be your house and she has you here when ever she needs you to comfort her in spirit. Greg and I take good care of her and the kids as well as all your friends. Can you believe it, four years later and your friends never let a day go by with out calling her or dropping in. You are missed by so many.

Love, mom

Dave,

Its been 4yr since we lost you, and it still seems like it was yesterday. Although we've continued with our lives, there is always a feel of something missing, A emptiness that can never be filled again. You're always on our mind and in our prayers. Mom misses you soo very much and she and Dad still always puts flowers at your work memorial and the freeway memorial always making sure its clean and neat every weekend. You would be proud of the work Richie is doing with the Sheriff Dept. I just wanted to let you know that we're always thinking and loving you, and that the 4th of July weekend always has a different meaning to us.

Missing you always..

David,

It's approaching the 4yr mark and it feels like only yesterday the bad news was recieved. I think of you often and pray for you and your family. Every Memorial holiday I especially think of you because I know how special and how much you honor that day. Now it has the same meaning to me.
I was so blessed to have known you and although for only 6yrs... it's enough to last me a life time.

Rest in peace my friend.

Just wanted to pass along my respects to Deputy Sheriff David Stan Piquette. I live in Arizona and was visiting my parents in Calif. While I was there I went to the Fry's Electronics Store in Anaheim. As I was parking, I noticed some markers and flowers on the side of the freeway. I could have just as easily ignored the markers and flowers, but something drew me to them. After, checking the remembrance site out, I had some very strange feelings. This man was obviously a great guy and very well respected by all. I have also lost some very close friends which remind me alot of this fine man, David. For what's it worth to the family and friend's of David. Be thankfull for every moment you got to spend with David. Let your grief pass on to happy memories, as you will rejoin him in the distant future. And last an Irish Blessing for you. "May the road rise to meet you, "May the wind be always at your back, "May the sun shine warm upon your face, "May the rain fall soft upon your fields, "And,until we meet again, "May God hold you in the palm of his hand.".......God Bless .....

Hi Dave,

This weekend brings the 4th Mother's Day without you. Thinking that I won't see you again this year hurts me. I run into your old partner almost everyday. Justin and Jordan's birthday was just a few weeks ago. Dad and I spent the whole day with them. They are hurting without you. We can see it when Dad hugs them. Our family is always praying for you. Please watch over us. Watch over your brother. Rich is very proud of you and your friends say nothing but good things. We love and miss you.
