Reflections for Detective Dennis Carmen Stepnowski

I did not know Officer Stepnowski personally but was deeply saddened to here of such a tragic loss in the law enforcement family.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends and fellow officers with DeKalb County P.D.
May God bless you and heal your broken hearts.

My passion has been the appreciation of all the men and women like Officer Stepnowski who unselfishly serve to protect the citizens. My heart is broken that this fine, fine young man was taken from his family and from all the friends who loved him. His death will not be in vain. I vow to continue my fight in this state to get better pay and better equipment for all these wonderful men and women. May God take care of and comfort his family. He will never be forgotten.

You will be missed by all of us. You were a great friend, and even better officer. The department has really lost an officer that can not be replaced. You were one of a kind. I look forward to seeing you again one day.

Today was one of the hardest of my life. A good Police Officer and more importantly a good man was laid to rest. I want to thank everyone who came to the service, helped us out and those that just lined the streets holding their flags. This really shows us all that there are people out there who care outside the police family. Thank you for noticing the sacrifice Step made for us all.

We will all miss you but will never forget.

I just wanted the family to know how greatly I regret the death of Dennis. I did not know him but I did work at Dekalb Cty 911 for 17 yrs. I was married to a Dekalb fireman for 19 yrs. He was not killed in the line of duty but on our farm tractor about 3 yrs ago. I know how great Dekalb county is for remembering their fallen and I know you wont see it now but they will be very helpful in the future. The 4th of July is my late husbands birthday and I know he would want me to tell you...its alright. It hurts so bad for so long but God will help you and cry with you as I do frequently. I guess it is true that the good die young as with your loved one. I am so sorry for your loss and know that people all over the country hurt for you and I feel your pain. If there is anything in the world I can do from Dublin, Ga. , please let me know..Sincerely, Linda Fowler

Dennis:
Though we have never met, when I heard about your death, I felt then, as I do every time I hear of a brother officer's death, as though a piece of me has died as well. Perhaps it's the fact that you (and you ALWAYS will be) and I are part of the greatest "gang", fraternity, brotherhood, or whatever name people choose to call it, that makes us share in each other's loss. This closeness ALL police officers share all across our great nation, and that is what so many people don't/can't understand. That you made the supreme sacrifice in doing what God has sent you here to do...to protect those who cannot protect themselves. THIS, is the common bond we all share as police officers in America, regardless if we are black, white, male or female. And it is this bond, that makes us grieve for you, and your family, but also so very proud of you. I am certain, Dennis, that this world will be a lesser place without you, but also a better place for you having been here and making a difference, not only to the people of the Great State of Georgia, but to ALL Americans everywhere.
Rest now my brother, as you patrol the streets of heaven with our Father, and smile down on those of us who will continue on with our determination to protect and to serve the people of the United States to the best of our ability. Amen.

My heart and prayers go out to the family of this fallen Hero, he spent his life and gave his life to protect others from harm, Officers of the State of Georgia are all heros just like our Servicemen they protect and keep us all safe, This officer gave the ulitmate price for us, His life, I have been following how much he touch others lives and he will be missed, but to the family, be proud of what and who he was, he is in God's hands and that is a wonderful place to be, I know that he was loved and will be missed, but remember God never puts on us more than we can handle, My thoughts and much love are with you in my prayers and I know that were ever I go, there will always be a safe place because of our Officers, I know that he gave his life to save others from being hurt or killed. May you only remember the wonderful person that he was and what he stood for in the State of Georgia, I will keep you and your family in my prayers to help fill this loss that you are feeling, may God Bless you and your Family, and rejoice knowing that the only place he could go after he left this Earth is Heaven !! what a wonderful thing to know exactly where he is and that you will renuite one day.
God Bless you and all Law Enforcement that keeps fighting the battle to keep you, me, and our kids from harm.
