I can't remember any story about my grandfather Oscar McCarty. He was just "Grandpa Carty" to me.

Thank you so much Marshall Jett for honoring and remembering the Great Great Grandfather I never knew. I remember reading this article as a little girl. I am so thankful for his service, and I am honored to be a descendant of such a courageous man.

My earliest and only memory of my grandfather was him holding my hand. The thing that most impressed me was not the garden but his knee-high lace up boots.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 70th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Constable Edward Charles Hageman, Norton, Kansas EOW 1891.

City Marshall Marcus Tillman Cage, Mineola, Texas, EOW 1903.
