I am not a member of the police department, but I am a member of the community that officer Darden lost his life protecting. Although he is no longer hear to thank,
I would like to thank, all members of law enforcement that sacrafice, not only theirs, but their loved ones lifes everyday, to protect mine. I am saddened as if I lost a member of my family. I did see the interview on T.V. with Brindle Darden, and I have to say see is a strong, and beautiful woman. And, Brindle if you ever read this I want to thank you for giving the city of Norfolk your husband to protect us. You , Mariah, and Seneca will forever be in my prayers. I will never forget this tragedy. Just know he's no longer an angel on earth, but now a heavenly angel watching over all of us. You will meet again. Stay strong.

To Brin
I can only imagine the pain you are going through. I hope you will take comfort in knowing that Seneca’s love for you will live on forever. You and Mariah will be in my prayers and I promise that Seneca’s memory and sacrifice will not be forgotten.

To Mariah
I hope some day you will understand how special your father was. He loved you deeply and you gave his life meaning. Know that your father died protecting freedoms most people take for granted. As you grow up, never question your father’s love for you. He died doing his very best to make the world you will grow up in, a better, safer place.

To my brothers and sisters of the Norfolk Police Department
My heart goes out to all of you. Recognize we must come together and go forward with the knowledge that we are filling in the gap of the Thin Blue Line left by Seneca’s death. I know you will carry on in spite of this tragedy, because like our fallen hero, you know we must continue to place ourselves in harm’s way to honor his memory and to safeguard our community.
