I was stunned when my fiance (a fellow VA officer) called to tell me about the shooting last night and deeply saddened when I heard that you had succumbed to your injuries. I check this site every day and am aware of the dangers police officers face, but it's different when it happens so close to home and seems so completely senseless. Thank you for your nine years of service to our community. My heart goes out to you, as well as to your family and your fellow officers. May you find peace.

At the beginning of every shift, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Today, May 9, 2006 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Detective Vicky Armel who died in the line of duty just yesterday.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Det. Armel’s sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Nothing is routine...not even shift change. The Lord must have needed another angel yesterday. What other reason would he have allowed this to happen? My heart breaks for Detective Armel's family & friends as I know their pain. I pray for healing & hope for her family & co-workers, especially the other officer that was badly injured. Take care of each other and tell each other how much they mean to you for you never know when your last day will be. Thanks for your sacrifice!

Goodbye to A Fallen Sister
by Deputy Robert Cooley

Rest in Peace my sister, your duty is now done, God hath called you home today as he did his only son.

It's time to sleep my sister, and rest with those above, for an angel has taken your place today, so God can show you his love.

You have done well my sister, you met death square in the eye, but it still hurts to think of you and many of us will cry.

Goodbye my dear sister, your duty is now complete, do not despair you're not alone for soon we all shall meet.

May God bless the Armel family and her brother officers in this sorrowful time. In my job driving tractor trailer, I drive through Fairfax County every night, and know that the officers in this area are very helpful and are to be commended in there professionalism. This senseless unprovoked killing and wounding of officers makes you wonder how anyone could be a police officer. But without people like Detective Armel the country would be a wasteland. God bless you Vicky and rest knowing that you did make a difference in the lives you touched

Detective Armel,
May god bless and watch over your family, your co-workers, and you. My heart aches whenever I see another name added to the roll, even more so when it is added at the hands of a coward such as yours was. Rest in peace, we have the watch from here. The thin blue line will not be broken.
