A Police Officer's Prayer

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience and let each one have his say.

Lord, if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord with your everlasting love
protect my children and my husband.

AMEN

My deepest sympathies go out to the family of Detective Vicky O. Armel

May God Bless you all.

Detective Armel, I wonder how many of your fellow protectors were saved by you engaging this killer without hesitation or thought of self. You are what a true warrior is all about. While at this time it will be of little consolation for the family, in time you will understand that Vicky died doing what she loved and she went out as a true hero, protecting those who protect others. May God's hand be there to wipe the tears of the family, Fairfax County Police Department, her brother and sister LEOs and her friends. He will always be there to comfort you. Vicky, "Well done good and faithful servant". In honor and respect.

I wish to offer my condolences to the family of Det. Armel and to express my appreciation to the Fairfax county Police and Sheriff's Departments for their continuous and fearless protection of the community. These are two of the finest and most professional agencies that I have ever encountered and not surprisingly Det. Armel has served with both of these Departments. My Prayers and Appreciation are with you all.

We saw you come in and go out Detective Armel, and we said hello, and you went about your business and we thought we would see you forever and then see you again with the retired officers at the barbecues and get togethers. We joked with you and -- and we never thought about how close you may come each day to leaving us...
Now -- struggles to stay with us and you have gone and we only wish we had told you how proud we are of you both, of all of you, for the job you do and the risks you take and for being the ones that the deranged seek out to end their misery...life is always far more precious and fleeting than we acknowledge. We will never forget you and we will salute your courage as long as we are able...

Police Officer's Prayer to St. Michael

Saint Michael, heaven's glorious commissioner of police,
who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises
of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional
eyes on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, and uncanny flair for
investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and
law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores,
strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, Saint Michael, from your own experiences
with the devil that the police officer's lot on earth is not
always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so
pleased God, your hard knocks that so surprised the
devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your
heavenly force, where we will be as proud to guard the
throne of God as we have been to guard the city of all
the people. Amen.

Vicky, I did not know you, But I know you are guarding us all today Myay GOD Bless you and keep you and be with your family in this our of need.

It saddens my heart to think that someone could be so cruel to take the life of another. I am very fortunate to be one of the pround officers that work for Fairfax County Police Department and with such an amazing group of people. I know my brothers and sisters will agree when I say thank you to all the surrounding agencies that have shown support in our time of tragety and grief. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Det. Armel and just know that our prayers are with you. God Bless and give us the strength to come together.
