Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Detective Vicky Anne Owen Armel

Words cannot express how my heart bleeds for your family. You were so brave, so selfless, and fought hard. I pray that your husband and children will find peace, strength, and comfort. I have seen it written on many other relflections to you "there but for the grace of God go I" I can't stop feeling how easily this could have been any one of us. I hold my own little one and never want to let go.
To your family- I am so very sorry you have to endure this unspeakable pain. I am so sorry your mother was taken from you so early and in such a way. She will always be with you to watch you grow, and will smile down on you from heaven. She will always be in your heart and in your dreams. In time your happy memories together will be more frequent. She will never be forgotten.
May God Bless you

As a former resident of Fairfax County, I have always held in high esteem the officers and deputies of Fairfax County. Detective Armel's bravery and self-sacrifice will stand for itself for eternity. She bravely chose to engage in the gun fight without regard for her personal safety. There hath no love greater than to lay down one's life for a friend, in this case, her brother officers of the FCP. My prayers are with the Agency and especially her family. God be with you, Ma'am, where sorrow is no more, nor sighing, but light and love eternal. AMEN.

Vicky was a cop's cop. She was sharp, aggressive, and proactive to a fault. She never dodged a call, and was the 1st to come to another officer's assistance. She was always upbeat, with a permanent smile. When my wife wanted to do ride along, I chose an officer I could trust to make it interesting, while keeping her safe. I chose Vicky. You will be missed more than you will ever know. Tyler, you and the kids were a constant topic of discussion with her. You will all be in our prayers

A true hero. It breaks my heart to know that I will no longer be able to see her smile or laugh. I have found solace in knowing that she stood face to face with the devil and wasn't afraid. That is just who Vicky was. With God in her heart, she layed down her life and in the process saved so many others. "Face of an Angel, Pretty Eyes that Shined". Vicky, I wish that I could have been there to help you. You will always be a Hero and Never Forgotten. I know that as you are looking upon us you are smiling. You are our Angel and will be in our hearts forever.

I know all of your friends and family will fiercely miss you. May the great memories they shared with you carry them through this tradegy.

I am deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred that day. I wished it ended differently. I wish you could be here to tell the tale of that wicked day. I pray for your family. I pray the pain quickly leaves but the happy memories stay forever. Though I did not know you personally, you are family to us all. I pray the Lord takes you in his arms and shows you all the beauty heaven has. Please talk him into sending us more guardian angels as the devil has been creeping through the cracks in doubles. Vicky, you have a beautiful soul. You've lived your life to serve justice and help those who can't help themselves. To your husband and the children, please stay strong... She'll want you to keep on and live life as she would have. I pray you'll always remember her and her memory never fade. Much love.

My prayers go out to the Armel family during this hard time. I prayed this day would happen to anyone I worked with or knew. It reminds you what matters most in life, your family. Take that extra moment to tell them you love them before you put on the uniform. Vicky, God bless you

My heart goes out to the kids and the husband that Det Vicky Armel leaves behind. Her husband being in Law Enforcement himself, understands that every day may very well be your last, but that is a hard thing to explain to a child. I can't even imagine......I pray that God gives the family the strength to get through these times. Vicky is looking down on you all, awaiting your own arrival into God's kingdom, and you will again, be reunited. To the Fairfax County Police Department, you lost a great one it seems, she did not hesitate when confronted with the situation in which she found herself. What a true hero. May God bless you all and place his healing hands upon your department during this time. Semper Fi to you all!!

It is hard to describe to a rookie how you it feels to learn that a brother or sister has given the ultimate sacrafice, and that it hurts just like a blood family member was lost. "To Vicky" though all give some, you gave all. God bless you and those left behind to celebrate your life. You are a true hero.

How does one define a hero?
What makes them so rare and unique?
Perhaps its the way they carry themselves,
Perhaps its the way they speak,
Maybe its their attitudes on everyday of their lives,
Or maybe their selflessness and perseverance to strive,
No matter what characteristics one tries to unveil there is but one thats surely true,
A hero puts their life before others...others like me and you,
May the Lord welcome you into his kingdom as you have earned your place,
God Bless your family... and may your memory instill a smile upon their face.

With tears in my eyes, I write these words. I have tried to read all the things everyone has said about Det. Armel but I cannot go on right now. It is too heartbreaking. Det. Armel, I wish for you eternal happiness and peace. For your family, I wish you well and may the hands of time ease the hurt. For your fellow officers and friends, be glad you knew her. I wish I could have met her, I know I would have liked her because of what everyone has said about her. I hope to be able to live up to her example........God Bless you. Semper Fidelis.

Again, my heart breaks for another officer and her family. My husband, Michael Wise was killed in June 2004 and it always makes me so sad to know that another family is enduring what we did just a short time ago. My thoughts and prayers are with Detective Armel's family, friends and coworkers.
