Vicky, I was devastated when the news of this tragedy reached me overseas. You are one of the most professional law enforcement officers I ever had the pleasure and honor to work with. To Tyler and your children, I send my most sincere condolences.

May the good Lord bless all of you.

Capt. Marshal Valentine-Ret.

Vicky, I knew of you on a professional level, both as an employee of the Sheriff's Office and FFX County PD. You will be truly missed, and always remembered by your brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community as a true hero for making the ultimate sacrifice. Tyler, my heart goes out to you and your family. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Dear Vicky,
It was with tremendous shock and sadness that I learned of your untimely death. You were without a doubt, the most cheerful person with the most memorable smile from our academy class 17 years ago. My sincerest condolences to your husband and children and everyone else you leave behind. You will always be missed.

I've spent the past hour reading the 22 pages of reflections just as I read all the reflections that were left for my brother. I still read them today.

I lived in Southern Maryland for 4 years before moving back to my hometown. I became friends with Fairfax County Police during the Police Unity Tour.

I know how hard it is on family but I really know how hard it is on the other officers.

Vicky wouldn't want you to turn your back on your job. You are only human and allowed to feel this pain but please don't let it take you away from your job permanently. It is you that protects us. We wouldn't be the America we are if we didn't have you, THE MEN AND WOMEN IN BLUE.

I wish I could be there to hug each and every officer that knew Vicky. God has a bigger purpose for you Vicky.

Our world is safer with all the officers down here on Earth but God must be using all these wonderful fallen officers for something.

My prayers are with everyone that comes to this site. God Bless all of you and know it is okay to lean on your friend.

Vicky,

I broke down last night for the first time, not because God wanted another hero, but because I feel like society has betrayed us. How could someone do something like this? Questions will never be answered until we are in front of the All Mighty. You saved so many, you are my hero and I'm sorry I couldn't be there to help. Even though it is a time to mourn, may your husband and children someday find a smile when thinking of you. Please watch over us all.

I didn't know you personally but from all that I have learned from the people who did know you, the people who worked with you day to day and the citizens you served, you were a very special lady. It is a beautiful legacy you have left behind.

We are three parts: body, soul and spirit. Your body and soul have left us but your spirit lives on with Him. What a wonderful place to be, in the arms of Jesus.

"When I get where I'm going
And I see my maker's face
I'll stand forever in the light
Of His amazing grace
Yeah when I get where I'm going
There'll be only happy tears
Hallelujah
I will love and have no fear
When I get where I'm going "

Dear family

My deepest prayers go out to you and your family. You made me realize how much i care about my father. He is a deputy sheriff for Fairfax county. He worked with you for a long time. I'm truly sorry. I know you are with our lord and savior and that you hold a special place in all of our hearts. The day my father heard about you, the first thing he said when he walked through the door was are you watching the news. I cant believe this, i worked with Vicky for a long time. Dad tossed and turned that night. I hear about you in school and at home. I haven't met you but I'm sure you are an amazing person. Tonight I learned about this site from my father. He said he was reading the letters on here and had to stop because he was going to cry and didn't want to be sad at work.

god bless you and the work you have done for us! Thank you for helping make the world a better place.
My heart goes out to you

Detective Armel,

Words can't express the total sense of loss I felt when I saw your picture here. I know our paths have crossed, either in court or when I was visiting close friends who are Fairfax County officers. Words can't express the pride I feel in having met you and knowing that I had the honor of meeting a true hero. Rest in peace dear sister; I know you are in the loving arms of our savior. God bless you and your family.

Dear Vicki,

As I read the words on these pages, it makes me so proud to have known you. We have shared so many good times together. We’ve cried together and laughed together. I will never forget all the nights spent sitting on the townhouse steps or the trip to Cancun with Tyler, Sharon and Doc. Those are such precious memories. Remember when your wedding flowers got delivered to the wrong church? It wasn’t so funny at that very moment, but how we laughed afterwards. Girl, there was fire in your eyes that day! Vicki, I wish you didn’t have to go so soon. I miss you so much. My heart is aching. I’m glad I got to see you one last time before you were taken from us. I believe with all my heart that you went out doing what you loved. You were one of the chosen ones Vicki. Even before you knew God, He knew you; and He liked what He saw. You made a difference in your community and in the lives you’ve touched. You will never be forgotten. Rest easy my sister. You’re mission is complete.

Dear Vicky,

I never had the opportunity to meet you in person, but I was one of your dispatchers when you worked out of Reston. You always struck me as a very positive person, and I admired your work ethic as you started your shift every day. You were always ready to go and do what needed to be done, and I thank you for that.

Our department has suffered a terrible loss this week with your passing, and we grieve right along with Tyler and your children. We can take some comfort, though, knowing that you are with God in heaven. Thank you, Vicky, for your years of exemplary service. We will never forget you.
