Vicky-having had the priviledge of working with you at the Sheriff's Office and attending your wedding to Tyler; when I heard the news of your tragic death, I began to think of the last time I saw you, Tyler and the children. It was at my Church in Amissville where you brought the kids for Vacation Bible School. I developed a sick feeling as I thought of Masen and Thomas and how they would never see you here on this earth again. For two days I could not get the thought of them being without such a wonderful mom out of my thoughts. Then as I attended your funeral, the Spirit of God spoke to me and said,"The pain you feel for Vicky's children is how I feel about every person who does not know my Son, Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. What will they do without Jesus? For Earth is temporary, Eternity is forever. And without my Son, Jesus they will die and go to Hell." Wow!!! God brought it home to me at that point and I realized that my fire for Jesus has not been as it should be. We can not understand God's timing, but we can KNOW that He is in control and He has a plan in all of this. Thank you for the impact you made on my life and even as you have passed from death on this Earth into Life Eternal in Heaven you have made a greater impact on my life. Once again I am on FIRE for the LORD!!!!!! Praise God!!!! I will be praying for you Tyler, as well as the Children. I will pray that each of you will one day know Jesus as Vicky came to know Him. May the God of Heaven provide you with Peace that Passes all Understanding as you go through this very difficult time here on Earth. I am so deeply sorry for you loss.

I know no words that i could say can help those having to live with this horrible loss, just know that we are thinking of all the family and friends and we pray that the Lord gives you the strenght you need. Det. Armel gave the ultimate protecting her co-workers and her community from pure EVIL, a kind of Evil that can't be changed and the only way it can be stopped is by being destroyed. I commend all those present for giving their all in stopping the shooter before more lives were lost. God bless you Det Armel.

Dear Detective Armel:
I believe that heaven is a happy, peaceful place. I know you were waiting at the gates this morning for MPO Garbarino with your warm, wonderful smile, and open arms. It is comforting to know that you are together, continuing your watch over us. There are so many people that are missing you, and none of us will forget you. I pray for strength and much love and support for your family...especially the little ones ... God Bless you all.

I never met you, but from what people say, I wish I had. We all live with the hope that we will leave this world after having made a difference. Rest assured, you've done that. Now I'm no poet, but I wrote this today for you and Mike. hope it means something...

As I woke and heard the news today,
My eyes quickly filled with tears.
What I thought was just another day,
Now realized by my worst fears.

On this day a Police Officer gave their all.
I still sit here in disbelief.
Though I know they answered duty's highest call,
It's little solace to my grief.

And here we all gather today,
To remember, and to mourn.
The spirit of this Officer will forever stay,
And hope won't be forlorn.

We share our thoughts, our tears, our pain,
but we must fight, we must refrain,
From losing the will to carry on,
Lest we forget, this death was not in vain.

Vicky,
I found myself looking towards your old locker the other day and felt pain knowing that you are no longer here. Your smile, laughter and personality would light up a room. I will not forget the sound of your voice. Please know that you are in my heart always and that I will miss you. You were an exceptional lady, wife, mother, friend and police officer. I know you are watching down upon us and we can feel your love as you feel our love. Your time with us was so short, but I know you touched my life and I'm better having known you. I will wait for the day we will meet again and it will be wonderful to see you. Until that day- you live on forever in my heart.

Detective Armel,

As a long time resident of Fairfax County, I was sickened to learn of the shooting last Monday afternoon. As the early news reports aired, I prayed that no officers were killed as the result of the shooting, and was dismayed to learn later of your passing.

I had the honor of attending your funeral on May 13th. I will never forget hearing you, in person from an earlier recording, tell those attending your funeral about how you discovered Jesus. It will be something that I, nor the thousands of other attendees, will ever forget.

This morning brought terrible news that MPO Michael Garbarino has also passed as a result of his wounds suffered that fateful day. I know you two are now reunited in heaven, keeping me, my family, and my fellow Fairfax County residents safe from from up above.

I will keep your family in my prayers, always.

Sincerely,
-Chris Cosgriff

My good Angel, Thou comest from heaven; God has sent thee to take care of me. Oh, shelter me under thy wings. Lighten my path, direct my steps. Do not leave me, stay quite near me and defend me against the spirit of evil. But above all come to my help in the last struggle of my life. Deliver my soul so that with thee it may praise, love and contemplate the goodness of God forever and ever. Amen.

Vicki, you found God in a world that needs help. You are a true Heroine. You will be remembered in so many people's hearts. You don't know how many people you have touched in your life. You will never be forgotten.

Det. Armel,
You went above and beyond the call of duty. I was greatly saddened to hear that you had your life taken so early.

To your family I just wish to thank you for letting us in the Law Enforcement community have you as part of the Blue Line. My wife didn't realize that it was you that had been taken from us. She had met you on a couple of occasions when you came in to interview inmates at Fairfax JDC and when she saw your picture her jaw dropped in shock.

To your children,
Kids, always remember that your mom was and always will be a hero to everyone in the law enforcement community. She put her life on the line everytime she walked out the door to head to work. She gave the ultimate sacrifice by putting her life on the line for the betterment of society and more specifically Fairfax County.

To your husband,
Words cant begin to describe how much it means to us all that you have not only lost your spouse but also a coworker. May God bless you and your children as you continue on with your lives. Always remember that Vicky will be there to watch over you and guide you through the days and years yet to come. We will always remember you and your family in our prayers. I just wish that I knew what else to say besides the fact that I wish I had been given the opportunity to be bettered by knowing you.

The fact that you have touched so many lives and have been a positive influence to so many is a true testament to your character. You will never be forgotten!

Dear Detective Armel & Family and Officers of the Fairfax County Police Department

I was deeply saddened at your recent loss. At the same time I know that you will find comfort in your wife, mother and partners's devotion to duty and heroism under fire. Her sacrifice will always be remembered among the brotherhood and sisterhood of the thin blue line.

I lived in Fairfax County and was a Prince William County Officer in the early eighties. I attended the Academy with many of your officers and have and will always have a deep respect for your department and its officers. You have an often thankless job, but the Officers of Fairfax County can raise their heads in pride knowing that they have had the honor of serving with Vicky.

I pray that in your grief you will take comfort in the knowledge that Officers all over this country share in your pain for we know when one of us falls so falls a piece of us. May God be with you, your family and your Department.

Exodus 15:2
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.

1st Thessalonians 13-18
concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Friends,
We have sustained a terrible loss when we lost our beloved Sister and Friend. As with many who had attended the funeral, I was moved when they played your testimony. I immediately thought of the above text. We can all rejoice in the thought the as in Exodus 15 that Vicky had become an important part in our God’s Salvation and also in 1st Thessalonians that when the Lord gives the signal with the voice of the archangel and the blast of the trumpet’s call, that our Sister Vicky will be there to meet us in the clouds…Until then, Dear Sister…Gods Speed and Rest in Peace…
