Reflections for Police Officer Gary Jonathan Buro

Officer Buro: What a hero you are and what a legacy you have left for the young officers at your department to uphold!! Not satisfied with being a Marine you chose to be an MP (PMO) for USMC No doubt you were the best!!! Then you served to protect your communities as a police officer...not just in ONE area, but you've done it wherever you have gone!! What a hero!!

To his loved ones and friends and fellow officers: Just remember him in prayer and recall something that he did and he will be just a breath away. Keep you heads held high and know this man was a hero and that he is with God, keeping watch for all of you. The streets of Heaven truly are guarded by United States Marines!! Semper Fi, Officer Buro and thank you for your service and sacrifice.

Brother Gary, you will never be forgotten by the men and women of the Chesterfield County Police Department. I received your FOP application that you had filled out. The brothers and sisters of Chesterfield FOP Lodge #47 accepted your application and voted you in as a member. We will remember you in our hearts each year at the memorial service. You are with God now, and although our hearts are saddened by your loss we know you are in a better place. We will carry on the fight in your honor. May God bless your family in this great time of loss.

Gates of Fire, by Stephen Pressfield

"This is my shield.
I bear it before me into battle,
but it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother
out of its shadow
nor my city out of its shelter.
I will die with my shield before me
facing the enemy."

I only met Gary once. During that one meeting it was easy to see what my friend Kath found in him. I know how her eyes would light up whenever she spoke of him and the plans they had to start a new life together. We had planned to get together agian but with all of our busy lives, I'm sorry it never happened.
My prayers go out to Kath and Gary's family and friends. What a tragic loss of a wonderful person. Gary may you rest in peace.

gary,

I have alot of family in chesterfield and i just heard of your death. My mother is a police officer in Michigan and just thinking about how she couldn't come home one day bothers me sometimes. You made a great sacrifice, thanks for protecting my family and friends.

Just a friend

Thanks for your service, it's a shame that I didn't say this message earlier. This tragedy at least has taught me to never take life for granted and that it's important to thank our local police officers for all they do for the community.

Rest in peace Gary.
