Reflections for Sergeant Darryl Takeo Tsujimoto

Darryl-
Coming up on a year already and I still have days where I feel like you have just left us. You are in my heart and on my mind. Plus I know you're probably pissed that your middle name got included in this!!

Darryl-
Merry Christmas!! I am hoping that you are decorating the police cars in Heaven! You always were concerned that the police department would be seen in a positive light. We are thinking of you today and wishing you, Sonia and your entire family well. (I hope your god-son has a good Christmas, I am sure that you're looking down on him and having a chuckle.)

Darryl-
The SFPD lost another officer today. Three in one year including you!! I can't believe it. I hope that you are welcoming the new guy today. You never were one to dog the new-bies. All of us are thinking of you and Sonia around Christmas and saying our prayers that your folks are alright.

Darryl,
Thanks for getting us through dog school, although you werent there I told the guys you were. Im sure you listend and answerd or every plea for help to get through it. Like all of us we have our good days and our bad. Its especially tough seeing your desk and pictures in the office. I took the locker next to yours in hopes that a little bit of you would rub off. By the way you still have a few BDU tops and a leash left there, I left them alone hoping you would return. We miss you dearly.

Sarge,

Sgt. Devlin came back! I saw a blur of red hair followed by a , "Hi Patty!", and my eyes lit up! Haa haa (there's 3 redheads at the station, how rare!) It was great to see him, maybe he read this page, thanks. Wishing you and yours a blessed Thanksgiving and holidays, followed by loving memories of you and your smile. Semper Fi!

I was stunned to learn of this great loss. I produced a show on the K-9 unit for the History Channel.. and could not have done it without Darryl. He was passionate, and dedicated and loved what he did. His biggest concern, was NOT self promotion --in fact, he didn't really want to be on TV. His focus was making sure that the dogs and the officers would be portrayed with the utmost of respect and professionalism. He thought of every detail. When it came time to shoot, Darryl had the created a storyboard worthy of Speilberg, planning every scenario and accounting for safety and accuracy. This was a man who lived for providing great public service. He gave his own time and money to create a unit of the highest standard.

My best wishes go out to his family and friends and to the men and women at SFPD who work hard to make this City a better place.

Darryl,
Going to the final WSPCA trial this year was so hard. Your name was mentioned often and you are terribly missed by so many friends and co-workers.

We all think of you and how much you gave. So many friends are looking out for Sonia. She is staying strong but missing you terribly.

Carving pumpkins this year was not the same. Your smile and curiosity about who was carving what was missed by us all, as well as your own project that you pondered on for a long time.

Your dedication at the Hall of Justice is happening this Wednesday. Sonia, Loki and Barak will all be there along with family and friends.

You are so greatly missed!

Sarge,

We are having our annual Vet's Day/Marine Corps birthday and wanted to let you know that we will honor and remember you, along with our other Officers/Marines who have gone before us.
Its time for Sgt. Devlin to move on to another station and we will miss him. I remember how he bolted out of the station before line-up when he heard you were down, as any true friend and officer would. Take care of him on the streets as he took care of us. Semper Fi, Sarge.

Sarge,

I went to court Friday and saw a strip of tape across "the wall of fallen S.F.P.D. officers", it was directly below Zak's name. I knew what it was, but I guess I was still not ready to see it...it was your name, not yet revealed and newly engraved. I'm sorry for your loss, I see it in your friends/co-workers' faces and can only pray for those who need it most. Remember to smile upon them when the going gets tough, they'll know its you. Bless your family during the holidays. Semper Fi!

Yep...same old story....I see our friends, I go to many places that we went together and I still do not believe it. To say it is unfair is to fight the tide....it just sucks, plain and simple. We miss you terribly and we'll keep an eye on Sonia for you. I am sure Barak and Loki are wondering where their best bud is.

Sarge,

Saw your team training Friday night at an undisclosed location (haa haa). I rolled up blacked out to a bunch of patrol vehicles shaking from side to side, and realized it was all K-9's! Long story short, I'm on the list...Hope to be trained by your team in a few years, I know they're the best! Semper Fi.

Darryl, Darryl, Darryl....and still I can not believe that you are gone. I can hear Davin's voice again at your memorial service, "So I said Sarge, How DO you pronounce your name??" and he said, "It's Darryl." Classic Tsujimoto. Please know that your friends and family miss and love you and think of you often. I keep Sonia in my heart with thoughts and prayers.....

To the family and loved ones of Sergeant Darryl Tsujimoto and his fellow officers with the San Francisco Police Department:

I wanted to honor and remember Darryl today. Although I never had the privilege of meeting Darryl, I feel as if I know him through the loving reflections left by loved ones and friends. His valor and courage will never be forgotten.
I also salute his service in the USMC. Semper Fi, Marine.

I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Darryl was robbed of his life so young, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Darryl gave to his community and the citizens of California, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on May 1, 2006.

Sarge,

I thought about you Wed. while the K-9's were patrolling in preparation for Birco's funeral, and had the following thought: I can't possibly explain the coincidence that the last 5 or so officers taken from us (CHP, SFPD, EPA, Pittsburg) have been former Marines who served in high crime/high profile areas. Some say that GOD had plans for you, but so did your friends and families. We miss you Sarge, and completely see it in your team's eyes, how much they want you back, we want you back. Hope you know that there's a K-9 during every one of my shifts, who responds to almost every call for service possible. They work hard and enjoy their jobs... Thank-u, semper fi.

My deepest condolences to Sergeant Tsujimoto's family, friends, and SFPD family. We just lost one of our own which brought me to this site. What a great memorial for friends and families to be able to leave reflections and stories so that those who didn't know him can see what a wonderful person he was.
Rest in Peace, Sir, and please watch over your brothers and sisters out here.
