Reflections for Guard Charles Alton Edward Leonard

Charles,
On today, the 90th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Virginia. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement then that of a Corrections Officer.

I am particularly saddened to see a family member go down in the Line. May Almighty God grant you eternal rest. It is well that your assailant partially paid for your murder by forfeiting his own life. May God have mercy upon his soul.

I want to thank C/O Leonard for his service with the Va DOC. I also am a Corrections officer working at a Road camp. We know coming into the field that it we may loose our lives but we choose to stand up and face it. I cannot thank you enough officer Leonard for what you have done. Your story has opened my eyes even wider to the dangers of the job. You will not be forgotten sir.

Mr. Leonard,
It has taken over 73 years, but you are finally being honored. I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of the state of Virginia. There is no tougher job in Law Enforcement than that of a Corrections Officer. Also, it took four more years, but one your of murderers got the justice that he deserved.
