Though we never met, I feel a closeness to you for several reasons. I am a former resident of New York, who always felt the New York State Police was among the finest law enforcement agencies in the United States. I too, am a police officer, so naturally our bond is unbreakable. And I too, recently had a baby born to me. So I truly feel the pain of your family, for you being robbed of seeing the little one come into this world.
But you are in a better place, and you are, for all eternity, a member of the greatest fraternity in the world. Your name shall live on, your dedication an inspiration for others to emulate, and your death shall not have been in vain.
Though the tears of your family may flow, they too, are a part of all of us, and our tears also flow. Regardless of the fact that we never met, their loss is our loss, and America's loss as well. Their pain is felt, physically and emotionally by all of us who wear a badge, and our families.
Rest easy my brother, for we will meet finally one day, in a place set aside for all of us who have worn the badge with honor, such as you. We have the watch now. God bless you, and your famliy, and law enforcement officers all across our great country.

To the family of Trooper Todeschini:
May God bless and keep you always.
When I saw Craig's story, I couldn't help but think he's in heaven now comparing and sharing his motorcycle story with my son-in-law, Jonathan Dragus (OCPD 10-20-05). I will pray for you because I know how your hearts are broken in little pieces. Stay close with your police family. They love you and will take care of you.

A FITTING TRIBUTE FOR TROOPER TODESCHINI, A HERO OF "OUR WAR" (LAW ENFORCEMENT AS WE KNOW IT TODAY):

REMEMBER

IF YOU ARE ABLE,
SAVE FOR THEM A PLACE
INSIDE OF YOU
AND SAVE ONE BACKWARD GLANCE
WHEN YOU ARE LEAVING
FOR THE PLACES THEY CAN
NO LONGER GO.

BE NOT ASHAMED TO SAY
YOU LOVED THEM,
THOUGH YOU MAY
OR MAY NOT HAVE ALWAYS.

AND IN THAT TIME
WHEN MEN DECIDE AND FEEL SAFE
TO CALL THE WAR INSANE,
TAKE ONE MOMENT TO EMBRACE
THOSE GENTLE HEROES
YOU LEFT BEHIND.

*One must go and one be left the lonely road to tread, There comes a day when all must face the path that lies ahead.

Knowing that the best is over with a loved one gone, There seems no point in going on.

But time is kind, the passing years their balm of healing bring, And like a bird at winter’s end their heart begins to sing.

We come at last to realize death breaks the earthly tie, But love survives when grief has passed for love can never die.*

To everyone viewing this in rememberance of NY State trooper Craig Todeschini;

I would have to say since 9/11, This is the most disturbing incident that has ever happened in my lifetime. For the past few day, all I could think about was trooper Todeschini and his family. I personaly did not know craig, but I do care more about other people than I do myself, and its a big heartache to find out that someone like craig lost his life to an immature child who decided he wanted to have a little fun, but sometimes people dont understand that fun isnt always a good thing. I would like to say im sorry to the wife and soon to be child of trooper todeschini, and you all will always be in my prayers. I grieve but know there isnt anything I can do, or anyone can do to bring this man back. In closing, I have one message for Craig Todeschini;
God bless you, and all your glory. You are a true warrior and will always be remembered! RIP

This horrific event of "dying while in the line of duty" has been my silent fear since falling in love with a law enforcement officer. Krisit, my heart goes out to you... Remember that your husband's life was a celebration of love, an example of service to others, a personification of all things honorable. You were blessed to have had him and I am sure he was also blessed to have had you. Know that not only will your husband not be forgotten but you and your children will not be forgotten. Our prayers will be with you. As hard as it is going to be, keep in mind that healing begins with forgivness...God Bless the Todeschini Family and our New York State Troopers

Craigs Mom asks that everyone learn a lesson from his passing, a lesson of "Respect for one another". Her son, certainly set that example. After not seeing Craig for several years, he adressed me as Sir when he saw me at Station 1 one day. Upon telling him that "Sir" was my Father, my name is Gordon, he replied, "OK, Chief Sir".
