We are saddened once again with the sad news of another hero taken from us. It is a great loss for the family and department during this crisis. We might not know the right words to say, or even know how to say them, but we can pray for your family and friends. May the Lord give them strength through this time.

While it is no consolation for your loss, my heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Embrey.

While I did not have the privilege to have known him personally, I am certain that he has found a place in heaven through his selfless service to those he swore to protect.

May G-d comfort your loved ones. Thank you for your dedication to keep others safe...Shalom Aleichem...

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep

I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's glint on snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn's rain

When you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night

Do not stand on my grave and cry
I am not there. I did not die..

What a shame that paperwork was deemed to be so important - 14-1/2 months later I am sure that the pain is just as strong as that January day last year. Please know that you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

My heartfelt condolences to the family of Officer Embrey who have suffered such a loss. Our duties as police officers are so strenuous and tax us beyond what others could handle most times... and take a toll on the family also. Please know that there are sister and brother police officers who appreciate it in a way that few others can. We know, and we will not forget his service and contributions. We pray for him as if we know him. We honor him and grieve. He will not be forgotten.
