Our community mourns the loss of a fallen hero. Although I did not know Deputy Bain personally, I work closely with law enforcement to which I consider my extended family. Although Deputy Bain may be gone, his spirit and the badge he wore will live on with his fellow officers to continue his work to PROTECT AND SERVE our community. My thoughts are with the family and the entire Lancaster Sheriff's Department, as they too will grieve the loss of a fellow officer.

My family's thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. You will be deeply missed, not only by those who knew you, but by the community you served and protected.

While I didn't know you well, your great sense of humor left a big impression. You touched the lives of many people and you will be missed. Not just by the citizens of Calfornia and the law enforcement community, but also by those in the "Collie" community.

May God bless you and yours. Rest in peace.

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer.

Tonight, March 24, 2006 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Deputy Pierre Bain who died in the line of duty just yesterday.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Deputy Bain's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

I saw the news this morning and I saw that a deputy (unk what agency at the time) had died in a motorcycle accident.

I came to work and saw some of my fellow officers wearing their morning bands. I asked what agency and they told me LASD from the Lancaster/Palmdale Stn.

I told my partner and he thought out loud, "I hope it's not by friend Bain. I just talked with him." He went on to explain how they had been in the academy together and then the jails.

I called my husband, who is deputy and asked if he knew the name of the deputy and he told me it Deputy Pierre Bain. When I said it out loud, my partner just froze.

It's a small world, in our world of law enforcement. We are connected whether we wear blue, tan/green, green etc...We rejoice with each other, when things go right, we support each other when things go wrong and we cry together when we lose one of our own.

Whether we know each other or not, it hurts when we lose a brother or sister.

I was told through my partner, that Dep Bain was married and had children. This makes the pain even worse.

My prayers go first to the Bain family. Do not worry, your extended family will take care of you. Rely on them, when they ask you if you need something, say , "Yes" and let them help. As officers we are made to help. That is how God created us. Let us help you, because you are helping us.

To his fellow deputies and family at AV,it's OK to cry. When we lost Ofc Matt Pavelka it was important for all of us to talk with each other, cry with each other and be angry together. We help each other heal this way.

There is no way to explain why God decides to take someone from us, who is only trying to make his/her community better and safer for all us. There has to be purpose, if nothing else, for someone else to step up and say they are going to take over where Dep Bain left off.

My prayers, my thoughts, my tears are with all of you.
