To Joe, his wife and children Chrissy, parents and other family and friends:

Today is the second anniversary of Joe's tragic death and the day all your lives changed forever. As I read the loving reflections left by those who called Joe beloved, I am mindful of the journey we all struggle with as we try to make a life for ourselves...we know that is what our beloved would want us to do, but the heart always aches for the one who can only be with us in spirit for now.

I hope that you all find some peace in your heart as you hold your memories like the rare and beautiful pearls they are.

May Joe's spirit continue to soar and his memory continue to inspire.

Rest in Peace, Joe. Your valor and dedication and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

JOE, IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 1 YEAR SINCE YOU WENT 10-7. BUT IT'S LIKE YOU ARE STILL WITH US. I'VE BEEN INVOLVED IN SEVERAL SEARCH WARRANTS SINCE THAT NIGHT AND IT'S LIKE YOU ARE THERE WITH US.

This month will mark 5 months since you have been gone and yet not a single day goes by where you are not in my thoughts. I think of the countless times that I have picked up the phone to call you to seek your opinion on something and remember half way through dialing the number your not there to talk to. I miss you so much. Some days are easier than others. It's comforting to come to the various sites and see others feel the same as I do, just knowing that I am not alone in my grief and knowing your memory is still very much alive knowing people have not forgotten the impact you had on all our lives. I know Wayne is a better father and husband because of having known you. We shall never forget you; we love you and will continue to keep you and the Whitehead family in our thoughts and prayers. Until we meet again...

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Everytime I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Whitehead, especially to his wife. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. You will be in my thoughts.

From reading all the reflections left for Joseph, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Joseph's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Joseph's life was about so much more than the way he died. Joseph will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy Whitehead, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Hey, Jay Happy Birthday my brother. It's funny I just got home from a weekend homne In Roselle, NJ. And I had to do what comes natural is come here to say something to you. Your mother and sister put on a beautiful Memorial Servcie on your birthday at our old High Schhol. It was sad but really nice to see everyone that showed up despite the hard rain the tunt out was nice. Tony was there, John Miller and all just to say good bye one more time. Your moving on is a hard lesson to us all. As we spoke and gave reflections on our friendship it reminded me that often we give our roses to people when they are not here. So hopefully everyone including myself will give there roses to there friends and family now. I thought ofyou often drivinh down the turnpike to Md and I just smiled on all the good times we had. Talk to you soon.
