Hey Joe, a week ago yesterday (Wednesday), we layed your body down to rest eternally. It was one of Bibb County's darkest hours, however your wife was a rock at the ceremony. The service was more than a regular memorial service, it was a great celebration of your life and of your career. I was so proud to be your brother in law enforcement. Your family is going to be fine (from seeing all of your brothers in color, and your family in turn out). During that time of memorial being one of the darkest hours, I believe it turned into a great hour of time. Also Joe, I just thought I would let you know it is truly amazing how many people you have touched. Joe you did a job here on earth that is very commendable and we all at Bibb County are going strive to keep it at the standard you had, we all know how dedicated you were to family, God, and your country. Joe thank you for leading by your example. your friend and brother in law enforcement

There was something about Deputy Joseph Whitehead that just drew people to him. He made me feel comfortable and safe around him, and I would have trusted him with my life without a second thought. He was a beautiful person who always greeted me with a smile and words of encouragement regardless of what kind of day he may have been having. I will forever remember him with his fiery eyes and hair like a lion's mane which reflected the great strength he possessed on the inside. I regret that I never told him I loved him as a brother and a mentor, but I am so glad I got the chance to thank him for all of his encouragement, patience, and for his faith in me.He may be gone in body, but he will forever be present in spirit. I love and miss you, Joe!
