Lynn, Dave and the Melchionda Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Matt often spoke of his family with affection and a smile. May the love of family and friends comfort you. You are continually in my thoughts and prayers.

Watchung Brothers,
Never forget your family next door is there for you. Matt will be greatly missed by all of us.

Matt,
I am blessed to have known you behind the badge. You have been an inspiration to me since I met you. Thank you for always caring and looking out for me. You were the most intelligent person I ever met and I learned so much from you. We shared the joy in finding our soul mate, getting engaged the same day and planning our weddings. I will miss your friendship, "the freedom of good conversation", my vocabulary lessons, your laugh and the sanity breaks.
I promise I will continue to "go where there is no path and leave a trail". The memories will be with me until we meet again. You lived and died a hero, I will never forget you and continue in your honor. I go to work tonight for the first time since the accident. Every time those hairs raise up on the back of my neck from now on...I'll know it's you looking out for me.
Lynn, Dave and your family will always have the support of your LE family.
Rest In Peace Brother.

Matt,
Rest in Peace Brother! You made the supreme sacrifice in the "line of duty" and your legacy should never be forgotten. Rest in Eternal Peace and keep an eye over all of us in Blue. My deepest sympathy goes out to your wife and entire family.
I contacted the NY State Shields to honor your devotion to the job and your wife as every year they Honor Police Survivors on the NY Intrepid at the annual NY State Shields Memorial Breakfast. Anyeone who has contacts with the family or the Watchung Police force, please e-mail as the President and Executive Board are interested in honoring the family in May 2007 since this year might be a little too soon.
