Reflections for Trooper Andrew J. "AJ" Sperr

It is so very hard to believe it's been five years. There isn't a day we don't think of you. Although we never met in this life, it seems we have known you forever. God works in mysterious ways, huh? God Bless You, Andrew and God Bless your family.

Aj, it was five years ago today, the guys started coming to me to tell me of your death. I remember them gathering around my desk as we looked it up on the news site. It rocked our area hard especially with it being so soon after New Hartford PD Officer Joe Corr's death It felt like a one two punch. But, we caught and convicted those involved. Just as we were there for your family including your family of grey riders then, we are still here for them

Five years ago tomorrow, and it doesn't seem that long! I know you've been lookin down on me. I miss you so much it hurts. You will always be in my heart and my life! You mean the world to me! I'm 14 years old now and I'm graduating from the 8th grade in just a few months! You'd be really proud of me! I miss you so much! May you rest in piece.

Sperr Family,
5 years and it seems like yesterday that we were trying to get you on the phone after we heard of AJ's murder. We all were so distraught. But we now have made many new friends including the Sperr family. Not sure how many of them there are!!!! AJ and Joe are watching from heaven above. We miss them dearly, but we have to hold on to the great memories. God Bless you all. Family of Officer Joe Corr NHPD EOW 2/27/06.

wow you never know what you will find out on face book . I can't express how much it meant to me that AJ made sure that I had a good time in N.Y,C. when I was struggling to find any happiness in the early 90's. I am saddened by this but I know that we will meet again.

Andy,

Working the C-line on Christmas; the Troopers are out dealing with drunks and domestics, and I'm at the barracks pushing paperwork. I was able to put a couple deer in the freezer this year, between my own pathetic efforts and some much-needed charity. Thought of you while sitting out in the cold. Still thinking of you and Fred quite a bit; hope you're both well. This place is the same; just a little dirtier and more worn down. Still see a lot of the old faces; everyone still talks of you often. Saw Lisa recently; she looks good, and her spirits seem high. Mikey remembered your birthday, and reminded the rest of us. Kyle's been asking about you again recently. See your picture everyday; keep thinking I'm going to run into you down in the locker room. Please keep watching over the young guys; it's strange to see them scrambling out the door the way we used to. Anyway brother, still miss you. There's a new quickie-mart in town, and the food's not bad; better than the old gas station food we used to live on during A-lines out East. It's snowing tonight; hopefully everyone will get home safe. Tell Fred I was asking for him; and have a Merry Christmas.

You would have been 38 today. Nothing will ever make sense about this. I know where you are you are happy and safe but it is still so hard for all of us here. How I would love to just pick up the phone and talk to you. People have to move on and continue with life but you are NEVER forgotten and always missed and will forever be loved.

andy, been a while since i spoke with you. however i talk to you at your park often. The park looks great in the fall and alot of people visit. You still have a big impact in the area but its a shame that we had to build that park. I would tear it all apart if it brought you back. Thanks for watching over us guys on the road, we need the backup its getting crazy out there.

Miss you dude!

Bow season started this last weekend. I am going out for the first time. I will never forget the time you got that deer near Kiryas Joel in Monroe and we tracked it for about 8 hrs. What a great time we had down there. Miss you bud. You had an impact on guys that you could not have imagined.

As tragic as this was, you did what a field expert dreams of. I don't carry a weapon and I drive a Chevy, but I know what I'm talking about.

Andy,

No beer tonight; got the calls this weekend. Ran the clydesdale five-hundred again today. I've been keeping pretty much to the trail lately; easy enough for me to avoid the dog and pony crowd. I see Pauly out there once in a while; I can't help but like him, he's a good man. But for some reason, I felt like listening to that song today; and after about the twentieth time, I got myself upset enough to stop by the monument. Saw Mikey this week; made me think of you. Been thinking of you and Fred a lot again recently; hope you're both doing well. If you get a chance, watch out for the guys a little closer than usual; the warm weather doesn't seem to be bringing out the best in people. Miss you, as always. Be good brother.
