Reflections for Detective Jared Scott Jensen

Love and Light to you ever and always...

Merry Christmas ...miss you - love you - sending hugs across the universe to you.

I pray you continue to watch over your coworkers - those who serve and protect despite incredibly difficult circumstances; those who continue the commitment to their oath and calling. May they and their families know they are loved, appreciated and honored. It is because of our community of support that we have made it to today...because love is stronger than death.

Your love of life - your smile - your laugh - your artistry - your humor - so very grateful for all that you have given to me and this world.

Love,

Natalie

So hard to believe it has been 12 years. Jared left such a legacy but his own words describe it best. Miss you brother, not a day goes by.....
Jared S. Jensen - - - Police Academy Entrance Essay, 2002
The traits I feel I already possess to be an effective police officer include keen observation skills, good physical health and sound judgment. However, I think the most important traits I can bring to the Colorado Springs Police Department are my commitment and passion. I have the commitment to do the job as I have been trained to do and to continuously better myself as both a police officer and as a citizen of the community. I have the commitment to be unwavering in my promise to uphold the law, protect the rights and safety of others, and to defy all forms of corruption. Along with my commitment I have the passion to take all necessary and warranted risks to help others.
My father instilled in me the will to always go towards danger to defeat it rather than to simply seek out my own safety. I can recall in my childhood when he would rush to the aid of victims of a nearby car accident or when he would leap over the pews at church when a parishioner was suffering a heart attack. I even remember a time when he raced down an alley in Chicago to chase off two men who were beating an elderly man. I do not seek to face danger to emulate my father or to be a hero. I am willing to face danger simply because I was raised to do all I could to help others.
The promise to protect and serve is not something I will take lightly. I will be unmitigated in my devotion to my training. I will have the commitment to continue to seek out all the knowledge available, and thereby continuously improve my effectiveness as a police officer.

...it has been trying to say the least. The world...it is always spinning, it seems to have ramped up the tumult, pain, outright hatred and violence. There is so much ...I know you know a peace beyond understanding...and would be doing your best to contribute to peace keeping here on earth if you could. I'm sure you have noticed the coming together, stepping up, support and heroism as well...it is a sacred bond, a calling and mission shared by those who take the oath - and for those who walk with them...
I miss your smile - your laugh - your life here...humming along to "when I get where I'm goin"...

With love,

Natalie

Starting to get ready for the 2018 Ride. Will be riding for you and your family again this year. Last year my good friend who is a chief of police was visiting the Springs. He attended (crashed the party is more accurate) the Peace Officers dinner. I sent him a message to look for your brother figuring there was a slight chance that they would run into each other. A Jersey guy half way on the other side of the country had little chance of running into Jeff. I got a photo about two hours later of my friend and Jeff sharing a beer. Small world. Glad they got to meet and let Jeff know the Jersey guys are thinking about you and your family.

Keep an eye on us as we ride to DC and watch over us so that we all finish the ride at the memorial.

J,
you never got to meet my kids.. They go to the elementary school next door to where the park is named after you. They can't believe their dad knew Jared Jensen. I tell them about you often and that you lived a life of sacrifice and honor. Working to make this world a better place. You are missed everyday and I can't wait to see you again.

Happened to come across this page and I have read 24 pages of comments so far. Cannot stop crying. So sorry for the loss that has so devastated all of you. At least Mr. Jensen is with him now. Prayers for the rest of you!
And lots of prayers for the protection of Jeff Jensen, still in the profession. God bless you all.

Sending love, faith and eternal gratitude for what you have been and continue to be in my life. Could never have imagined this world...thankful how your light continues to shine, to bless amidst so much dark... because it has been so very dark at times. Guess that's when faith enters in and socks it to ya, huh? Your laugh, your jokes, your understanding and compassion continue on with so many who carry your torch... I am holding to a hope and promise ... always,
