Reflections for Detective Jared Scott Jensen

J-Rod,
I know your above smiling down on all of us, but believe me whenever this annual day comes it is truly hard for me to smile back. You are not forgotten, rest in peace.

We need to laugh more than we cry; we need to smile more than we frown; we need to remember more than we want to forget because that is how you truly LIVE on.

In those endless moments when it seems hope has failed us and faith has been abandoned, I will remember the smile of my friend and the sound of his laughter. I will remember Carmina Burana and laugh out loud every time. I'm sure now she will too and I hope it makes her laugh and remember better days.

I think of all of you each and every day.

Happy belated birthday Jared. You are in my thoughts & prayers daily. My family & I vacation a lot in Colorado Springs & when we go out there this summer, one of the stops will be to visit the Jared Jensen Park named in your honor. I have read the Colorado Springs news on my cell phone for a long time now & remember the story of you confronting that suspect & that creep took you away from your wife & parents & other family members & friends. He got 98 years! When we take our trip from Pennsylvania to Colorado, please look after us Jared. May you rest in peace.

If I close my eyes, I can clearly see the face of the young man that had my back in Sector 53. Time does not fill the void that he left, and I will always regret not being there for him when he needed me. Since then, however, I have done my best to live every single day of my life in a way that would make him proud.
God bless you, Jared.

Often, when I'm lost, I stop by Jared Jensen Park to come say "Hi" to you. While I'm there, I find strength and a renewed sense of purpose in the bravery, honor and pride that you showed every day. Know that you're remembered often and fondly. Miss you.

Jared -

Today, at the Medal of Valor Luncheon, we were all reminded of the bravery of your fellow officers. Each and every day they face danger in their quest to protect us and our community.

You all make a Daily difference!!!

J-Rod---
You came into my dream again the other night.......I always enjoy our little "visits" as it is always so neat to see you and hear that laugh. You were with my Dad again, I can only imagine the stories being traded between the two of you! It always brings an overwhelming feeling of peace that carries over well after I wake up. Good to know that you are both still watching over...your influence on our lives continues in so many ways every single day.

Jared,
You were on my mind today. I will never forget your sacrafice. Never.

Nine years ago today we stood in front of our family and friends and said, this is the life I choose, you are the one I want to share this journey with...that day was glorious; the moment we met and the path I was blessed to walk with you is heaven sent...we are on opposite sides of the universe today and it feels like a chasm that is insurmountable at times, other times it feels like your arms are encircling. A love that knows no bounds...

Love,
Natalie
