To the Cloherty Family:
I am sorry for your loss. Thomas was a really great person. I met him when he first entered the Coast Guard in late 2000 and was stationed with him in San Diego on the CGC CHASE. I remember the last time I saw him and wished him well as I departed the unit for another in Florida. Know that we all share in your loss and know that he is looking down on us each and everyday.

To the family and friends of Special Agent Thomas Patrick Cloherty and his fellow officers with the Fish and Wildlife Service:

I was so saddened to learn of the tragic death of this young officer.
His dedication to his job will not be forgotten.

May you be comforted and supported by your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. There are many who share this painful journey with you who will be by your side. May God watch over his wife and four children and protect this young family.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Agent Clohery gave to his country through his military service, and that he gave to his community and the citizens of the United States through his service as a peace officer. and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 8, 2005.

My heart breaks for SA Cloherty's family & friends. So sorry this happened like it did but I can't think of a prettier place to spend my last days than Acadia National Park. My first husband (Calvin) and I honeymooned there...unfortunately he was killed in the line of duty on the side of an interstate. I pray that the Lord will wrap his loving arms around you & carry you through the days ahead of you.

Agent Cloherty, you are a true hero and will never be forgotten. Keep watch over your wife and children, wrap your wings around them and hold them close so that they can feel your presence to help ease their broken hearts. There are not magic words I can offer to them except that you are a hero and that they should keep your memory alive. You will never be forgotten.
