All of us in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office join with Trooper Manion's family members and friends in mourning his tragic loss. We are all too often reminded of the dangers all law enforcement officers face daily in their professional lives, and as we remember Trooper Manion from our neighboring Shenandoah Valley county, we pause to reflect upon the sacrifices all our officers make as we express our continuing gratitude to all.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers of Trooper Manion. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To his family - my husband was accidently shot and killed in the line of duty 11 months ago - I share your pain. Please take comfort in knowing that you do not walk this path alone, but with many others who have endured similar losses. 27 was too young to die. Kevin is walking Heaven's streets of gold and is forever safe in the arms of the angels. He will guide and protect you all as you continue on without him.

Thank you, Trooper Manion, for your service and supreme sacrifice. May God bless you and may you rest in peace, Blue Angel.

Kevin, you will be missed by all members of this department. I only had the chance to work with you a few times and in that short time you proved to be an excellent Trooper. You wore the uniform proudly and I am honored to carry on my duties as a Trooper knowing you will be watching from overhead.

You may be gone, but not forgotten.
