Reflections for Trooper Kevin Carder Manion

The members of the aviation unit in Manassas extend our deepest sympathy to Kevin's family and close friends. Kevin was a FLIR Operator for us for a short time and I know he enjoyed flying the few times he got to go up. May he rest well.

Goodbye to A Fallen Brother
by Deputy Robert Cooley

Rest in Peace my brother, your duty is now done, God hath called you home today as he did his only son.
It's time to sleep my brother, and rest with those above, for an angel has taken your place today, so God can show you his love.
You have done well my brother, you met death square in the eye, but it still hurts to think of you and many of us will cry.
Goodbye my dear brother, your duty is now complete, do not despair you're not alone for soon we all shall meet.

Thoughts for Trooper Manion's family:

"A brief moment of darkness
was all that I knew,
before Heaven's Gate
came into my view.

Loved ones and friends
I had missed for many years,
welcomed me with open arms
and many happy tears.

All the hurt, fear and pain
that I have ever known,
is gone from my life,
I am finally home.

I gazed upon the Lord's
sweet smiling face,
and for the first time in my life
I knew and felt His grace.

I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and loving you
from my home in the sky.

A cool breeze on your face,
a touch of light rain,
I will send as a reminder
that we will be reunited again.

Life on earth is but one
brief moment in time,
I am finally home,
Eternity is mine.

For Trooper Manion:

Rest easy Hero. Your job here is done. In your name and for all fallen hero's, we'll take it from here.

I would personally like to thank all Winchester division Virginia State Troopers. In 1997, I was in need of help passing through your beauiful state. You came to my aid just outside of Winchester.
I didn't know Trooper Manion. My thoughts are with his family. And his extended brothers.

Our heartfelt sympathy is extended to the family, friends, and co-workers of Trooper Kevin C. Manion. As the parents of a Clarke County Trooper, we ask God daily to watch over our son and keep him safe. Our joy in knowing our son is safe is another family's heartache in the loss of their son. May God be with each of you during this tragic time.

May the Lord strengthen you in this utmost difficult time. My daughter lost her beloved fiance, police officer Matt Redding just 4 and a half months ago, on October 9,05. From what I have read, Matt and Kevin would have been best of friends had they known eachother here on earth, both shared a character of integrity, bravery and honesty. Our hearts have truely been broken and we have been emerced in the feeling of shock and disbelief. Matt was a believer in the gospel of Jesus, and he as Kevin would often share it with his friends and even those he arrested. I still cannot give reason for his death that seems so senseless, but I can see how in his life God had worked to prepare him for the moment of death, (really his "awakening")bringing him to the knowledge of how much he was loved by God, and the salvation Jesus our savior offers. I have cried every day for the absence of Matt in our family- to me he was the son I never had. While I am not his true mother & my depth of pain cannot compare to his own mothers, as my depth of pain cannot compare to yours as kevin parents, but the realization is now comming about that my mind has to grow stronger than my heart. The love for our loved ones that have passed on, remains, perhaps even gets more intense as we experience their absence, but as my mind applies the faith, growing stronger in the promises of Jesus, then I find I am more aware within that we will meet again. It is too soon now for Kevins family, for now is the time for morning, but in the many months ahead, I would encourage those of Kevin family to meditate on the promises, to fill your mind with the hope given. Kevin and Matt have no doubt met! Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, you believe in God, believe in me also. I go to prepare a place for you, in my fathers house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you" "Father, I desire that they also whom you gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which you have given Me, for you loved Me before the foundation of the world!" My prayers are with the family of Trooper Kevin Manion, may God our father lift you up and give you His peace that passes all understanding.
