Eric will be missed greatly by all.
He was a high spirited individual who was always trying to put a smile on one's face. He was always there if you needed him. Very energetic and had a smile that would light up a room!

We will always carry your memory Eric.

Eric was a strong, good person. He had so many goals in life. He dedicated his life to serving and protecting, both professionally and with family and friends. He was a dear friend and I loved him so much. Eric wanted to help rid the streets of drug dealers and gang violence. His being has touched the lives of so many people. He died with honor and I know he is in heaven with his father right now. I know Eric is happy. He would want us to celebrate his life and all of his achievements. Eric, we all love you and we will miss you so much but I know you will still be with us every day in spirit.

Eric was a great police officer. He was always working and hunting for stuff. All those arrests, made him a great asset to TRU (Tactical Response Unit).
I first met Eric in the academy, he was in the class immediately after the class I was in. Eric graduated a month after I did. We were both sent to the same training district immediately after graduation, the 14th district, where we went through our training cycles together. We had the same FTO, who would always say, "Man, this kid can eat!" He would get two donuts and a bowl of ice cream everyday on his first break! We never could figure out where Eric put it. He burned it off working out, which he did on a regular basis. He was in great shape and made a great effort to be for the job.
Eric was a very kind and generous guy. We had the same traffic court call. I would run into him every month. Eric drove me home on a few occasions, because he didnt want me to walk to/from the el station in the rain/snow.
Eric was an all around great guy. He was always in a great mood, cracking people up, and cheering people up. Eric always put others first, he was the least selfish person I know, he always put the needs of others before his own. Everyone who knew him, knew that they could always cound on him. Eric will be truly missed by all those lives he has touched.

In Memory of Eric Solorio. My condoloences to the family and friends of Eric. Eric volunteered in my classroom when I was teaching at Chicago Commons 2 summers ago. He came in and left with a smile and left the children of the classroom with a message... I am here to protect you. Although the children from the Back of the Yards Neighborhood already had their opinions about police officers based on what their peers, neighbors, some family had instilled in them, Eric made sure that for every smart, quick question they asked, he would respond smarter and quicker. The children of Room 12 from the Summer 2004 do remember him, as so do I with the smile of confidence and pride that his job was to protect and take care of his people. Those photos are still in the classroom, as Im sure the message he left is there as well.

Rest in Peace Eric.
