Reflections for Police Officer Eric Solorio

Eric you will truely be missed. Work is not the same without you. We know that you rained on us yesterday when leaving the church to let us know you are still with us and always will be. We miss you but we know God has other plans for you.

To Eric's family, The Targeted Response Unit, and the entire Chicago Police Dept. you have my deepest sympathy. There is no greater sacrifice than the one he has made. But even in heaven he will be on patrol protecting and serving those who put on the the badge and go out every day into the communities throughout our land.

My most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Officer Solorio. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.

To his mother - I lost my husband in the line of duty 11 months ago; I share your suffering. The only thing I can think of that would be worse than losing a husband would be losing a child - you are living every mother's worst nightmare. Please know that you do not walk this path alone, but with many others who have endured similar losses. Eric is forever safe in the arms of the angels, and is walking Heaven's streets of gold. He will be with you always - will guide and protect you as you continue on without him. Be strong.

Thank you, Officer Solorio, for your service and ultimate sacrifice. May God bless you and may you rest in peace, Blue Angel.

Eric, we were sad when you left the 6th district, but we knew you were destined for bigger and better things. now are hearts are grieving because you are gone to a place where we can never be near you or see you walk through our doors again. We know you are among God's Angel's now. Thank you for teaching me the things that you taught me when I was still a P.P.O. When i use those skills i will always think of you.

I remember always looking forward to class- there wasn't a day when you wouldn't make us all laugh. But then today, I could not believe my eyes when I was watching the news- why you? You were so young, so full of life. I was sad- then I ran into your funeral procession and I was mad. Why do the "good guys" leave this world? I came to realize that I can't be mad, you got the chance to be what you wanted-- even though it was only for a little while, you had the chance to live, to learn, to love. You touched so many people with your smile. I could not be mad because God gave you the chance to make a difference in so many peoples lives, in this world...and he gave us all the privledge of being touched by an angel. Descanza en Paz angelito, y que Dios bendiga a tu madre, que le de la fortaleza para superar esta prueba. Watch over all those that you knew- you have been chosen to do that now. You are special!
