Reflections for Special Agent Greg Ray Boss

I can't believe it has been almost 2 years now. My husband still hurts like it was yesterday. I didn't get to know you very well but I feel so blessed to hear all the wonderful memories my husband has about you. You are truly truly missed. God bless your family and friends. Thank you Greg for being such a great friend to Dave!

Thinking of you and your family and friends as the holidays approach. You were taken so tragically and senselessly. I hope those who shared their lives with you have found some peace. Thank you for your service, and I hope that justice is served.

Greg,

I just found about this tragedy yesterday. You were a great guy, bright, funny, heart of gold. I can still see you sitting at my table in FLETC.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Rest in Peace brother.

My thoughts are with your loved ones on this day. I know they have thought of you every hour of every day over the past year and will continue to do so. You have not been forgotten and are a true hero, heroes never die. Continue to keep watch over your loved ones and those still out on patrol.

It's been one very tough year for those who miss you so much. Your love, warmth and caring nature is still with us. It poured rain and blew cold winds the day we said goodbye to you, but my dear Greg, you didn't want the fuss. I knew you through your love, Mary, my sister. We spent Christmas, holidays, many evenings together. You became part of our family. My children loved you as an uncle and we loved you as our brother. The year passed so quickly, but yet the days and nights spent thinking of our great loss passed slowly. You were an outstanding human being and those who were lucky enough to know you loved you more than you'll ever know. I'm proud to have known and loved you, you were the best thing that ever happened to Mary and she knows and feels it daily. It's been a horrible journey for her, but she's strong and she is a survivor. With you as her guardian angel, she will be fine. Rest in knowing that the short time you spent on this earth did not go unnoticed or was not fulfilling. You left a legacy of love to all who knew you. Your twinkling, mischievious eyes, your giggle, your warmth... we will never forget.

I remember a friend with a smile that matched the mischievous and hooded twinkle reflected in his eyes. I remember a tender friend that was there when we needed him most. I remember the man not fearful of being human and hugging someone when life got a little tough. I remember the co-worker with the aptitude and integrity to tackle almost anything. I remember the agent that we trusted with our lives. And, most of all, I remember the quiet sadness that embraced us when the light of his laughter disappeared.

I remeber Greg from our High School years at Aurora Central. A classmate of ours informed me of Greg's death and I remembered his name but not his face (It has been almost 20 years since I had seen him). I found this website and was able to put face to name. We were not best friends but definitely friends none the less. Greg you haven't changed a bit and I remember many good times we had and what a fun person you were. See you on the other side.

I had the opportunity to meet SA Greg Boss through his best friend and partner Mary LaFrance. His integrity and commitment shined through his smile. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary and Greg's family. May the good memories help you through this time. Rest in peace, Greg.

The US Postal Service-OIG, Denver Field Office lost a good friend on November 8, 2005. Greg was humble beyond comparison and lived a life that brightened everything and everyone that came into touch with him. Thank you Greg for allowing us to know you and be part of your life. You will be sorely missed by all of us, especially by me. It was a gift from heaven to have known you, worked with you and for having you as a friend. In the short two years as a special agent, Greg had the utmost respect and admiration from all of his peers in the law enforcement community.

I am praying for your family as they recover from this tragedy. I pray that God's comfort and peace be with your family during this time of grief. Life is not always fair and those that we love so dearly are sometimes taken away without warning but I pray that your family gives all their worries and cares to God, for He cares for you and your family. Remember that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted. Rest in Peace my friend and know that you will never be forgotten. God Bless.

It seems like you were a victim of a senseless act of
road rage. I'm glad they caught the fellow and he
will get his punishment, but it still doesn't bring you
back. My heart goes out to your family, friends and
co-workers who will carry your memory with them
forever. Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

With the recent passing of the anniversary of my late fiancé's EOW passes it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to start off the new year without the man they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Agent Boss, especially to his girlfriend. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. If you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me.

From reading all the reflections left for Greg, he sounds like he was a great man and a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Greg's life and the MAN that he was. His life was about so much more than the way he died. Remember that "Wherever a beautiful soul has been ... there is a trail of beautiful memories." Greg will live on in those memories.

Agent Boss, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been three years but we still miss him terribly.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Rest easy Brother

Officer David Pitts
Albertville Police Department Albertville, Al

January 25, 2006

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
