Reflections for Police Officer Francis J. "Frank" Hennessy

Frank,

We shared so many funny times together. I still remember laughing about the "ignorance is bliss" comment. I can still see you messing with your nightstick/belt at roll call. You never went out without that stick. I'm gonna miss you kiddo!

Like LT C used to say....

from one "moe" to another "moe"

I hope you found peace frank...goodbye brother

Rest in peace from an English colleague.

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining
just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, Policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church, have you been true?"

The Policeman squared his shoulders and
said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times, my talk was rough...
and sometimes, I've been violent
because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny
that wasn't mine to keep,
though I worked a lot of overtime
when the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
though at times, I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much.
But if you don't, I'll understand."

There was silence all around the throne where the saints often trod.
As the Policeman waited quietly
for the judgement of his God.

"Step forward now, Policeman.
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in hell."

To the Family, Colleagues and friends of Police Officer Frank Hennessy.....

Miles away, in a front room in Dublin, An Irish Cop looks and feels the pain you endure at this time... I didn't know Frank, but reading the reflections posted by his Community and Friends tells me .... the Family, Colleagues and Community have lost a Guy who 'gave a damn!'. A Guy who went to work with 'Pride, Integrity and Guts!'... A LONGFORD trait...

You see, two years before Frank left for the States, my best Pal, an Irish Police Officer from a small village called 'Newtowncashel' in Longford also paid the 'ultimate sacrifice'...
I still feel the pain....

Frank, you will NEVER be forgotton and in 2007, I plan to return to the Police Memorial Week in DC....
I'll look ya up...

Hennessy,
Its been along time since I spoke to you and I can't believe your gone. Do you remember us all working at the Fountain Blue in Ireland until you escaped to New york and I to Toronto. I remember how we would talk on the phone about our new lifes and the great excitement you felt about becoming a police officer. I see you finally got a haircut since then, it suits you. I am proud of what you had become.

My heart breaks for your family especially your wife and little girls for the loss of such a kind and gentle soul
Frank goodnight till we met again.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.
