Reflections for Senior Corrections Officer Wayne Robert Clark

Officer Clark, my late father served as a Correction Officer with the New York State Department of Correction for 32 years. I know first hand how difficult it is to work locked unarmed inside those walls with the people that we as police officers put there. I salute you for your dedication and bravery for all those years. It is obvious that you were close to your well deserved retirement and will never be able to reap what you had so rightfully earned and enjoy those days with your loved ones. My prayers are with you and your family in these most difficult days. May the Lord be with you and them in this most difficult time.

"A MAN IN BLUE"

A man in blue has lost his life in service of law.
The love that makes this sacrifice the greatest love of all.
A Police man was killed today, the reason I cannot say.
I don't know why he had to die.
The man in blue died for me and you;
we must remember him too.
Flags fly low, let use bow in prayer
for fallen police men everywhere;
and remember this: that they are missed.
The badge burns bright like an evening star
free from a world of war.

To the family and friends of Wayne Clark: In July l969 I was hired by Cinnaminson Twp along with Wayne Clark, he and I were patrolman together. I remember going to his home and having lunch with his family while we were working, cause I lived out of town, he invited me to his home. Wayne stayed several years and later on in his career, he left our department.
I later heard that he joined the ranks of State Corrections and I knew that they got a guy who would be a great CO. I am sadden to learn that Wayne was Killed in an accident in a town in which I now Live. About Two months ago, I met Wayne at the Cleaners in Cherry Hill, NJ, we chatted about old times and he was telling me he never married again but he had a wonderful female companion that he has known for years and how Happy he was. His children are all grown up now but I remember how pretty his twin girls were back in l969 and l970 and I know he had a son also.
I want my brother officers to know that I admired Wayne Clark, He had such a great Personality, always had a smile and a laugh, Wayne was a wonderful person. I must tell you all that when I heard of the news, I filled up with tears and that night I prayed for his family and his brothers who will miss him very much. In closing, I am asking God to look after his family, Friends and his Brother Officers. Sincerely, A Brother of Wayne Clark, Tom Lillagore Sr.
