God bless you. I just read your reflection for the kids and I. Thank you. I understand the depth of your pain and I am praying for God's peace to envelope you and carry you through the moments that just seem to much to bear. I know the DPS family has been a blessing and a great source of support for both of us. What an honor it is to be associated with them. I will continue to lift you and your sweet baby up to the Lord in prayer. God bless you. Christy Myrick

I should have hugged your neck the last time I saw you - we were all standing in your parents kitchen after the Thanksgiving holidays. I never thought in a million years that would be the last time I would see you. I wish you were here to see how good of a mother Tara is to Zoe. She is looking more and more like you everyday. I will forever remember you in your UT cap, summer trips to the river, Shenanignas, Texas country music concerts, and the years you lived with Robert as you took your precious time to finish college. A day won't pass without me thinking about you.

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family and fellow officers of Trooper Zachary. May there be comfort and peace in the grace of the Lord during this most difficult time.

Listen! I am telling you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we will be changed. Because this corruptible must be clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal must be clothed with immortality. Now when this corruptible is clothed with incorruptibility, and this mortal is clothed with immortality, then the saying that is written will take place: Death has been swallowed up in victory. O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting? Now the sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
Therefore, my dear brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord's work, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. - 1 Corinthians 15:51-58

To the Zachary Family,
I just read your reflection the the site for Agent Greenig. I am touched by your words. We lost a friend, Officer Ray Rios on 9-4-05 and think of him everyday. Upon visiting his gravesite yesterday, we came across his wife there. She told us that she was there just talking with Ray. Of course we left quickly to allow her to finish her conversation. But her strength gave us more strength and hope, just as your strength will help strengthen the family of Agent Greenig.
I thank you for your heartfelt sentiments and I am sure others feel the same.

Fruitless is the watchman whom the Lord does not watch over. Blessed are the peacekeepers for their work does not go forgotten. Fickle may be the masses however not the heart of justice. Like the trees that bloom in spring, strength and eternal life is epitomized by the glory of their masses. Seemingly, inate are their gifts...asking not for themselves however giving of all they are. And when that tree stands no more, the acorns of their life, sprout forever from shore to loving shore. When all is said and all is torn, the tree still stands firm, giving even more, leading a way from danger or a footing or a floor. Above the petty arguments and feelings of abhor, we look not longingly upon their bark and branches, only upon the leaves and shade when the heat of the day is all we can mention. Yet during the cold and winter months we shiver in the old, wondering when those leaves will grow, to shelter us once more. Still the tree stands tried and true giving unto you. Yet you wonder about the stopped up gutters in fall that trouble you. Still we stand just like the spruce, strong and fierce as is our way.. All we ask is plant one more to help us in our day.

I didn't know this officer at all, but I stopped to see if there was anything at all I could do to help on the scene.

My deepest apologies to his loving family.

To the Zachary Family,
As a soldier currently serving in Iraq I can tell you that sacrificing your life for the better of others is the most honorable duty there is. Your Husband and Father is a true hero. He did not put his badge on for honors and rewards. He put it on to protect others. For that he will be rewarded by GOD and honored by all. May the Lord bless You and your Daughter.

To the wife and baby of Trooper Zachery,

Be proud of the service that Trooper Zachery gave to the citizens and state of Texas. Even though he was too young to leave this life, he was probably always prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty to protect and serve. His selfless act of service will never be forgotten.

God Bless and akways remember that he will never be forgotten.

My deepest sympathy to your family. There are no magic words I can use to tell them that I am sorry because there are not. I know their pain and the long road they will have ahead of them. Your brothers and sisters in law enforcement will keep your memory alive and you will never be forgotten. Your family will never forget you. I ask that you watch over them and protect them. Take special care of your little girl and guide her through life.

To the family and friends of Trooper Billy Jack Zachary and to his fellow officers of the Texas Highway Patrol:

I was so saddened to learn of the tragic death of this young dedicated officer. On behalf of our entire family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you sustained when Trooper Zachary was tragically killed in the line of duty.

May you be comforted and supported by the warm embrace of your law enforcement family, and by other police survivors who share your painful journey.

Although I know her mother will keep her father's memory alive for her so that his daughter will understand what a hero he was, I so regret that she will grow up without his physical presence. My heart goes out to this young family. My grandson Cody was born three months after my son Larry was murdered last April during a foot pursuit of two bank robbers. I hope that Zoe and Cody can meet someday through the COPS functions and become friends.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Trooper Zachery gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 1, 2006.
