Dear BJ,
I miss you so much. We all do. You know how much I love you. I am so blessed to be your aunt, and being with some of our family and some of your friends on your birthday was a comfort. Beautiful baby Zoe brings us so much joy like you always did. She reminds me so much of you when you were a baby - she's a female version of you. :) I know you are so proud of her and of Tara. As you know, Tara is a gem, and she is doing a wonderful job mothering you two's precious gift to us all. I know you are also proud of sweet Conner and all of your cousins and all they are accomplishing. You are in Heaven, but you are also in our hearts, thoughts, and words - always right here with us.
love always, Candice

Happy Birthday friend. It has been so long, yet it seems like just yesterday that I saw your contagious smile and sincere blue eyes gazing in amazement at your wife and baby girl. Tara is such a good mom! I am sure you are very proud of her. Zoe has gotten so big...she has 4 teeth and working on #5. She is such a happy baby, smiling all the time. I can see you in her. She has your happy go lucky spirit. Oh, by the way, you won…Zoe said “Dada” first.
We all miss you so much, and I hope you know you will never be forgotten. Zoe knows her Daddy loves her, we tell her everyday. You are a hero many and an angel to Tara and Zoe.

Sara

July 25, 2006

Dear BJ,

It's your birthday today and I am feeled with so many emotions. We are having a little get together with the old gang at Robert and Sara's house tonight. I am sure there will be laughter and tears, but mainly stories to remind us of the good times. It is hard to believe that you have been away from us going on 7 months. Sometimes it feels like forever since I have seen you, but then there are times when it feels like yesterday that Sara came to the front door to tell me the news. I miss you so much!

You would be so proud of Zoe. She is going on 10 months and is hard to believe that she will be a year old pretty soon. She does not want anything to do with crawling, but wants to jump right into running! She has 4 teeth, two bottom and two top. And she has the funniest facial expressions ever and some remind me of you. You two would have so much fun together right now. She is missing out on one amazing daddy!

Happy 33rd!!!

Your Loving Wife

I did not know BJ personally but do work with one of his classmates.That classmate had nothing but good things to say about BJ. I did get the oppurtunity to honor him at his funeral and to meet his wife. BJ got to fulfill a dream of his and I am sorry to know that he did not get to serve the State of Texas any longer. We will miss you brother. REST IN PEACE.

A Letter From Heaven

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say;
But first of all to let you know, that I arrived OK.

I'm writing this from Heaven where I dwell with God above;
Here there's no more tears of sadness, only eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy because I'm out of sight;
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon, and night.

That day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through; God picked me up and hugged me, and He said, "I welcome you". He reunited me with others there who I had loved on Earth, many who had loved me since the time of my birth.

"It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your beloved family, they'll be here later on. I need you here so badly, you are a part of my plan. There is so much that we can do, to help our mortal man".

God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do; And foremost on the list was to watch and care for all of you.

When you lie in bed at night with the day's chores put to flight; God and I are closest to you in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth and all those loving years; Because you are only human, they are going to bring you tears.

Do not be afraid to cry, it helps relieve the pain. Remember as some poet said, "There would be no flowers without the rain".

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned, but if I were to tell you, you would not understand.

But, one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er; I am closer to you NOW, than I ever was before.

There are rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT by taking one day at a time.

If you can help somebody who is in sorrow and in pain; Then you can say to God at night... "My day was not in vain".

And now I am content... that my life was worthwhile; knowing as I passed along the way, I made you and others smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick them up as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to leave... from Earth to be free; Remember you're not leaving... You're coming here to me.

I never knew B.J., but I have become friends with his most precious wife and daughter. Words can not explain how we will miss B.J. as a fellow officer, husband, father, or son, but I do know one thing. That Is that B.J. will never be forgotten for all of his hard work and dedecation not only for his job but also for his family. Thank you B.J. for all the great work you did for The Department Of Public Saftey. Tara and Zoe when there is no one else to call or talk to, just look up, and he will always be there to guard and protect you. He will always be there to listen to you and guide you no matter what the situation may be. B.J. is both of your Guardian Angel

Some people are lucky in life to have someone they consider a best friend. We all have close friends and buddies we love, but a best friend is a treasure. B.J. was more than a friend to me, he was like my brother. The last time I saw him, he hugged my neck and told me " I love you brother." I will never forget that or him. You were lucky if you knew B.J. As for me, I was blessed for knowing him. To Tara and Zoe, Lonnie and April, I love you all and Thank you for letting me be a part of your lives. Remember that B.J. is still with us and watching over us. Love, Jon

You've been gone almost 5 months now and every time I see your mom or sister I think of you, Tara, and Z. They are so strong. Thanks for bringing your precious baby to school so I could see her. When I found out you were gone I was grateful that I was able to see you before you left. It's funny how a decision to show off Zoe could mean so much! Thanks

My husband and me were having a rocky year last year and that all changed when we lost dear B.J. Even though he is not here physically, he will forever have an influence on our lives. B.J. Walked the walk and Talked the talk and for that I will always be thankful. He made us realize that the issues we were dealing with were petty in comparison. We will have him and his family in our prayers forever. Thanks B.J!
