Reflections for Trooper Billy Jack Zachary

To the family of TROOPER BILLY JACK ZACHARY:
I have the great honor to ride this year in the Police Unity Tour for TROOPER BILLY JACK ZACHARY!!! I have read the stories and reflections, sitting here working part time(in uniform) full of tears! I could not imagine the pain and sorrow you have endured. I am riding in his memory. Every mile, every breath, remembering your loved one. I would love to meet you in Washington DC this year during National Peace Officers Memorial Week. I will be wearing a bracelet the reads "In honor and memory of TROOPER BILLY JACK ZACHARY", and would like to turn it over to you and your family. I will also have something special for you. I will be there during the Candlelight Vigil. We will be departing Portsmouth Va., on May 10, 2007. Arriving in Washington DC on May 12, 2007.

This is a GREAT honor for me and I hope that I can bring you some rejoice and show you that your family is extended throughout the world, and that there are people who will never ever forget. TROOPER BILLY JACK ZACHARY is my Hero, an American Hero!! We ride for those who died, and we will never forget!!

You remain in my prayers........

Well, it is 11:00 p.m. on Friday night. Another night without you. I still can not fathom that it has been a year since you left. I just want to hear you laugh again and see your beautiful smile. I miss you and love you so much.

Zoe is everything we could have wanted. I know you are looking down on her so I know I don't have to tell you how wonderful and smart she is. She wonders into her room from time to time and comes out with a picture of you and her, and all she is saying is Dada. She definitely knows who her Daddy is!

I Love You Always.

Hey B - Just been thinking alot about you - and I can't believe a year has already passed. I keep reliving that dreadful phone call we received a year ago. New Years eve this year was spent with Tara and many memories were talked about, and there were lots of laughs. We still miss you so much, and the guys always talk about the good times like you are sitting right there in the room with them. Keep a watchful eye on your loving family, and know that we think about you everyday.

Well a year has passed...yet the memories of that day are still so vivid. Sure do miss ya BJ! Zoe is getting so big! Shes walking and talking. Time just goes by so fast! Just wanted to let you know I was thinking about you!

BJ,
It's difficult to comprehend that your EOW was one year ago. This weekend we were all together (with some of your friends, too) sharing some of our precious memories of you, and like always, we felt you with us. If only we could have you with us physically. It's hard to accept what happened that dreadful New Year's Day - you were too kind and compassionate to have your life taken like it was. I wonder if the man who killed you has any idea what a prize he took from this Earth and the suffering he has caused. New Year's will never be the same. We take some comfort in knowing you are alive in Heaven with God and Nana and the other heroes who have passed before you. You will always be our Hero. We hope you liked the messages in the balloons. Even your precious little Zoe scribbled one to you. Watch over us all.
We love and miss you,
Your Loving Family

BJ,
This year and the holidays have been so difficult without you. It's impossible to believe that almost a year has passed since you went to Heaven. It seems like forever, but thank God one day we will all spend eternity with you. We miss your beautiful smile and laughter and the jokes you loved to play on everyone. We see you in precious Zoe. We haven't left a lot of messages on this site this year, but there is never a minute that you are not in our thoughts.
We love and miss you,
Your Family
(God Bless all of you who take your time to leave kind remarks for us. They bring us some comfort, and we are grateful.)

BJ ~

I just saw a tribute to all fallen officers on tv. I turned to my mom and said, it's almost been a year since BJ left us, and then I saw your name and picture. It's still a hard concept to grasp, but i'm sure you're partying in heaven and taking care of your precious wife and daughter. Tara sends pictures of Zoe, and she's absolutely beautiful. We miss you...

I look at all of the names of officers that gave their life while directing traffic or conducting traffic stops and it just sickens me. There's just no excuse for this. There's no reason a family, friends, loved ones, and fellow brothers and sisters in blue should suffer such a great loss just because someone wasn't paying attention. I read about what happened to you and it makes me quiver that my son lost his life the same way 6weeks after you lost yours. I pray for your family and for the Texas Highway Patrol. Sir, You're a hero and God Bless...

Tara,
We just wanted to let you know that we love you and think of all three of you often. I know that Zoe is probably growing up to be a great little girl. With a mom like you, and a dad like BJ -- we know she has to be great! Hope that you are doing well. Sorry that we haven't kept in touch. When we think of BJ, we laugh and we cry, but most of all we are thankful that you two had each other. Remember the night we went to Cinco-De-Mayo? If you need anything please let us know. We will be thinking and praying for you often.
Love,

I want to tell Tara and Zoe that even though I never got to meet Billy he sounded like an excellent trooper but more importantly he sounded like a great husband and father and friend. Tara, he will never be forgotten. Those who knew him and those of us not lucky enough to have met him will keep his memory alive and will strive to keep moving forward. I know you will do the same. God bless you and you're family.

Well B., it is the middle of September and I still can't believe that you are actually gone. I talk to Tara and Zoe every couple of weeks and they're doing good. You picked a good woman. She is taking good care of your daughter. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of you or something that reminds me of you. I just started playing golf again. It's not the same without you. The last time I played was with you. I miss you so much brother. I know that you are in a better place but I still miss you. I love you bro. Jon

Dear Mrs. Zachary;
I never had the pleasure to meet Trooper Zachary, but reading all the reflections, I'm sure we would have become close friends. I've worked with many a Trooper in my carrier, more professionals you will never meet. We don't always understand Gods master plan, but have no choice but to live with it. If I may take the liberty, BJ is still with you. He is in the wind,a drop of rain ,a flower blooming and especially little Zoe. God Bless.
