Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Lieutenant Michael Elvin Walker

Thinking of you and your family today. You would be so proud of them, and your girls are so good to the smaller kids at COPS functions. Rest In Peace.

Dad,
It's been four years nine months and nine days since you passed. I can't believe it's been so long! It feels like you didn't pass that long ago but that it's been forever since I've seen you. I've grown so much and people tell me all the time that you are "smiling down from Heaven" and that you'd "be so proud" of me. Your little girl has grown up just a bit in the last few years. I'm now taller than Grandma, Auntie K, and Mom (she's doing great by the way and so is Jenn; Jenn grows more and more pretty everyday, you would be blown away by how big she's gotten).
I've made so many friends over the last few years and you would love all of them so much! There's two who I think you would really like; they are both super funny and one even reminds me of you: tall, blonde hair, blue eyes, funny, makes puns even in tough conversations and hates not being able to fix things.
I guess this isn't quite a reflection anymore, more like a letter to you. In that case I hope they have internet in Heaven because I want you to know what I'm saying.
I love you.
I miss you.

Mike,
I was thinking about you and John yesterday on Memorial Day. I realized I never told you that you were the best Lt the Santa Cruz office had ever had. You made me want to stay an officer so I could work for someone like you. I have many great memories of you making it fun to be in special duty. Everyone misses you and thinks about you every time they see your sign on sr-17.
I will never forget

Your heroism and service is honored today, the fourth anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer. You escorted me home from the hospital, gave me your card and private cell number in case I needed anything...little did I know that our families would be members of NorCal COPS together after your tragic death. Your wife and daughters are amazing.

Rest In Peace

I attended the Academy with Mike and as seems to happen all too often, lost touch with him over the years. I remember him as being the quiet one, but a genuine gentleman. He was liked by all. God bless. CTC III-81!

On the 3rd anniversary of Lieutenant Walker's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Lieutenant Walker is not forgotten.

Michael, you may not remember this, but a long time ago, I was driving back to my base after seeing my folks and I was speeding, You stopped me, asked for my license, I was so nervous I gave you my "Hug License" instead. You told me to get out of the car, i did, and you said, "I would like to cash this in." You gave me a hug and said, "thank you for serving." You let me go with a warning. I will never forget that day, ever! You are a true hero and a very special person. "God Speed and God Bless."

Hi Dad.

OMG! That's all I can say. My God Dad... In a couple weeks it's gonna be your birthday. Wow! The big five zero! Daddy, I miss you so much. I want to tell you about some of my friends. Their names are Kendra, Lauren, Gabby, DD, Sarah and Maverick. Don't worry Dad, Mav and I are just friends. You don't need to roll over in your grave or anything. Dad I love you and I miss you. OH YEAH! Quick F.Y.I. dude, I'm still not a raiders fan (They don't deserve to have a capital r at all).I miss all my friends so much, but none near as much as iI miss you. Oh my God, you would be so proud of Mom and Jenn. Jenn is changing schools and Mom is making friends and wearing less black finally. I guess you'd be proud of me too. I conquered my fear on hights, and then I was there for Mav when he did and I was there for Lauren when she was scared. Dad I've grown so much and I wish you could truly see what I've become. My friends are all new and they help me so much cope with what has happend. I wish you could meet them, but make sure to meet there dads up on THE CLOUD okay?

Love, Boo

PS I got the room you were gonna decorate for me. It's amazing. Miss you and will always love you. Bye...

Daddy,

I miss you so much! When I last saw you I was a little nine year old. Now I'm twelve and miss you all the same. I have thought about you a lot lately because I just changed schools. I love you and hope to see you and all the other officers in heaven or where ever we go after death soon.

I love you!
I miss you!
Can't wait to see you!

"All Roads - All Codes"

Demonstrating the professionalism that I have come to know from CHP personnel, on that fateful day, Lieutenant Walker had actualy sent some of the other CHP personnel home to be with their families on New Year’s Eve while he performed their duties.

It is New Year's Eve again. As usual CHP will be out there on some of the most dangeorous highways in the world, placing their lives on the line, while others will be immaturely partying-up.

CHP has been there for me on-duty, as well as off-duty, and today, I salute the memory of Lieutenant Walker and all CHP personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
