Brother Rob,
I've been holding off leaving a reflection because as I, and the rest of Somerset County Police Academy Basic Recruit Class 27-01 know, you seemingly had a propensity for cheating death. It has become clear though, that we will not be as lucky this time. Lightning has struck twice.
I can only echo what has already been said by other Brother Officers from Class 27-01 in saying you were a TRUE leader and I was proud to follow you through the Academy. You were a friend and a "stand-up guy."
It is also clear from reflections left by Brother JCPD Officers that you were as good a cop as you were a class leader.
Your family, Officer Carson's family, JCPD and Class 27-01 will be in my thoughts and prayers...we've lost a truly outstanding individual.

Many of us had to work over this Christmas weekend and wanted nothing more than to finish our tours and go home to be with our families. The last thing we wanted to hear was of something like this. The condolences of my family and I go out to both families in their time of loss, especially during this holiday season. Their service will not be forgotten!

OFFICER NGUYEN AND I WERE ALSO IN THE POLICE ACADEMY TOGETHER. HE INSPIRED ALL OF HIS COMRADS THAT WERE IN THE ACADEMY WITH HIM. AS I WAS GETTING TO KNOW HIM I KNEW FROM HIS SENSE OF HUMOR,
LEADERSHIP SKILLS, AND THE WAY HE WAS ABLE TO COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE TO BUILD THEIR CONFIDENCE AND AT THE SAME TIME CALM THEM DOWN IN STRESSFUL TIMES.
ROB, THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU THROUGH OUT THE ACADEMY. EVEN AFTER, I ALWAYS HEARD GOOD THINGS ABOUT YOU AND THAT YOU LOVED WHAT YOU WERE DOING. WE WILL ALL MISS YOU FOREVER.
POWER, PRIDE, AND DETERMINATION
