Reflections for Detective Dillon H. Stewart

Reality

Imagine how our world would be
If every police officer quit
Turned in their gun, turned in their badge,
Just finally had enough of it.

No respect, no loyalty,
No appreciation of all they do,
They’d give their lives for all of us,
These wonderful officers of “Blue”.

Kicked at, spit on,
Punched, stabbed and shot,
Everyday assaults on officers,
Done…without thinking a second thought!

Our laws are in favor of criminals,
There’s always some loophole in their case,
Out again to commit more crimes and murders
…creates pain, that we, the family and friends
…in time will never erase.

Why should they do it?
Why take the risk?
Why put their life on the line?
Subject their loved ones to endless suffering,
When their precious life is lost while fighting crime.

More murders, more kidnappings, more robberies and rapes,
Just to mention a few,
Please ask yourself how life would be,
If there were NO officers in Blue!

Would you do it? Could you do it?
And for how many…would YOU give it all?
Rewards are a 21 gun salute, a Medal of Honor,
And your name gets added to the Wall.

Think about it. Why are they here?
And why do some hate them so?
Because they enforce the laws that put convicts and murderers
In jail serving time, or on “Death Row”.

All give some and some give all,
It’s a risk they chose to take:
To put their heart and soul in it,
To put their lives at stake.

So, please take a moment,
Please give it deep thought,
Think of what “you can do”…

To help show respect,
To help follow the laws,
So we’d quit losing our Heroes in Blue!

My deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Officer Stewart. You are in my prayers. Keep your faith in God and he will help you thru this tragedy.

Greater love has no man then this that he lay down his life for his friend.

When Jesus spoke these words I believe he had the men aand women who pin on the badge and go out not knowing if they will return home that night who look into the face of hell and suffering every day and some how hold it all togeather.

Our wold is a better place thanks to deadication of men like officer Stewart, may God grant his family peace and understanding in this time of sorrow.

Once again, a fellow member of the NYPD assigned to the 70th precinct gives his life in the line of duty. A dangerous place the 70, but you'd never know it by the way the cops who work there go about each tour. True professionals, and Dillon Stewart was at the top of the list. While 99% of the city was asleep, he was out there keeping it safe for the good people of Brooklyn. A class act all the way will be sorely missed by all.

May you RIP, and always be remembered. Fidelis Ad Mortem.

The Purple Shield Medal...is awarded annually at Medal Day to those members of the service who have suffered extremely serious physical injury, or death...
The design of the Purple Shield consists of several distinct parts. The medal is in the shape of a shield symbolizing the Department itself, and it bears the motto of the Department "Fidelis Ad Mortem" (Faithful Unto Death). The phrase "Fidelis Ad Mortem" was coined in recognition of the gallantry and bravery of police officers who gave their lives or were injured in defense of their fellow citizens. The medal bears a raised bust of Theodore Roosevelt, who was President of the Police Commission from 1895 to 1897, representing the start of the modern age of policing in New York. The gold star represents the extreme sacrifice of the member awarded the medal and the three purple fields separated by white lacing represent the wound or injury, extraordinary fidelity, and meritorious service.
