On today, the 100th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for the citizens of Roane County. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

It was always wonderful to hear my great grandmother, one of the four surviving children, tell this story about her father when I was a child. More recently my grandfather still shares this story . Much later in life, I wrote a paper in college detailing the event. Thank you for making this page available and for reminding me of a wonderful memory of my family.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 97th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
