Reflections for Police Officer Ulysses Sterling Lenox

Officer Lenox, I just left the theater after viewing ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ where one of the Osage killers, Blackie Thompson is arrested subsequent to the robbing of the Drumright Bank and you killing.

My great-grandfather, Neil McWhirt was a bank robber in Thompson’s gang. I pray he was not responsible for your death or the wounding of your partners.

I’ve been a cop for 44 years, and have buried cops I knew.

Thank you for your service to the people of Lenox and the state of Oklahoma. May God grant you eternal rest and May His perpetual light shine upon you.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 88th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace
