Reflections for Police Officer Brian Howard Jackson

Well Brian I did not know you however I had the honor of riding with your wife on the flight to washington. The way that she held her head high was an inspiration to many of us. I never had the chance to meet you although I got to meet joanne and several other officers from dallas on the trip. I got to hear alot about you and I truly feel that Dallas Tx along with the nation has lost a very important Officer. My prayers go out to you and your family.
Joanne, I want you to know that you have more family than you ever knew that you had. Officers from all over the nation are your brothers and sisters and they always will be. Erik has all of my information and if you ever need anything from me or from the Fort Worth Police Department please let us know. It would be an honor to help you in anyway possible.

Brian,
I just had the honor of seeing your name inscribed in stone. Hope all is safe with your wife. By the way you would be proud of how well the Dallas boys can drink. I know if you were here you would tell us to remember you celebration, not grief. Rest in peace my friend.

I never knew Officer Jackson, but just finished watching an episode of "Dallas S.W.A.T", and it was dedicated to him. I saw the calenders and the things that was done in his memory. I would like to extend my deepest sorrow to Officer Jackson's family, as well as to all the fellow officers who risk their lives for everyone, because of your passion and pride to serve and to protect.

~May God Bless You All~

Well, it has been over three months and it still is unbelievable that you are gone. I truly believe that you are around, watching over us. And watching us, when you shouldn't be. ;) Brian, I miss you and wish you would just appear and let us in on the most horrible joke in history.

I can feel you now more, at times, than when you were here in body. As I am sure others have experienced, there are undeniable "coincindences" that let us know that you are have not left us. We need you, you are so extra-extraordinary and left a hole in alot of us. We need your help and God's to fill that. You gave so much life to us, thank you.

Gina,
I do not know you, but I just recently found out about you through our Carolina COPS newsletter. I am very sorry to hear of your loss. I was unaware that you were nearby until I read it in the newsletter, so please forgive me for not contacting sooner. I just wanted you to know that I am here (locally) if you ever need someone to talk with. I am a survivor also; my dad was killed in the line of duty three years ago while assisting a disabled motorist here in Summerville. Those first few months were so very painful until I found people to talk with in COPS. So, if you ever need someone to talk with, PLEASE call Beverly or Sally with the Carolina COPS chapter and get my number. My husband also works at the local department here (Summerville). If you needed to contact me, you could do so by leaving a message for him (Sgt. Wright) there.

Again, I am sorry for your loss. There was nothing that comforted me more than an understanding shoulder, and so I wanted you to know that I'm here if you need me. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

I just heard today of the loss of this fine young man - and my heart is deeply saddened by the tragedy. I pray daily for his family, his wife and those he worked closely with and who both respected Brian and called him friend. He obviously believed in what he did and he was an example to look up to. The men and women who give their lives in the line of duty are indeed the finest of the fine and the bravest of the brave...all will be missed; Brian, you most of all.

Brian,

You're not here and that is tragic. Although not even close to being a consolation prize, the prosecutors are going to try and do justice for you. Miss you Man! Joanne is in our prayers every day.

"Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand firm then, with belt of truth buckled around your waist, and breastplate of righteousness in place. Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one"

I did not know Brian personally, but since he was a fellow police officer there is a lasting bond, a "Brotherhood", or fraternity that we shared together. Brian, like so many police officer's walked the point for their communities and the good citizens everywhere.

Walking the point is not only hazardous and dangerous, but very costly since it often claims the "Best of the Best". Young men die, and that cannot be changed, and as always someone has to walk the point. When Brian, one of "Dallas’s Finest" was walking the point, and was killed in the line of duty a part of America died with him. Apart of every "Old Warrior" (police officer) died with him that fatal day he did not come home from duty. They have said that "Old Warriors" never die they just fade away. Well that is only true when they are fortunate enough to survive long enough while walking the point for the citizen's they serve.

Like America "Old Warriors" have seen enough of their "Young Warriors" die protecting the laws and freedom they love and believe in. When that happens a part of them, dies inside also. Their hearts are saddened and pierced forever with the memory of their brave young brothers. Brian, was cheated out of just fading away, but he will not be forgotten by "Old Warriors" who have seen one too many "Young Warriors" sacrificed.

May God bless you and your family during this time of grief and sorrow. We the members of the Alvarado Police Department extend our heart felt sympathy to you and yours, and we will pray for you.

I stand with your other brothers and feel the weight of our grief. I hear the bugle and clench my jaw, the pipes begin and I feel there is no way I can go on..........Then I think of what you did, one last call of the day to help your brothers and I know I will go on, and I will see you some day and shake your hand. Well done brother, well done.
