Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Jonathan Paul Dragus

Six years ago you were taken from us physically. But you will always be with us. So many things happen on a day to day basis that remind us of you. You truly made a mark on everyone that you met.

Our hearts are still heavy and we miss you so!!!

We remember Kelly and Ashlyn and Kaden today and everyday. We pray they feel the love and support they have around them.

We are approching the six year anniversary. Everyone misses you very much and not a day goes by that you are not in our thoughts. We remember all of the good stories and speak of you often.

You would be so proud of Ashlyn and what a great woman she has become. She is the rarest jewel I have ever known and I see you in her everyday. She is the sun and moon all in one.

KD has also done a great job with Kaden. I know he learns more and more about you each day. She is a very stong individual and I am proud to see the great leaps of faith she has made.

Although we can not see you, I still feel your presence. You have impacted so many lives and many that you may have not known.

We remember you my friend and will remember you always! We Love You

Joathan and I worked at the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office together. He was on duty as a dispatcher the night I was involved in a fatal shooting. He was there for me when I needed him the most and I will never forget it as long as I live. He was always there for everyone because that's who he was. I am certain that he is now part of God's police force. I would pray that his family always prosper and cherish every moment they were able to spend with him as we all did.

I can't believe that it's been five years - it still seems like only yesterday. I think of Kelly, Kaden and Ashlyn daily. I can't believe the strength that Kelly has shown through these years and don't know that I would be able to do the same if I were in her shoes. You are loved deeply and missed greatly!!!
Love you Kelly! Give Kaden a huge kiss and hug from us here in Minnesota.

5 years my brother. How can it be? Michelle and I were just talking about what an amazing uncle you would have been to our kids now that they are 6 and 4 and 4. Your namesake Jonathan (we call him Jon-Jon) always has a look on his face like he is into something funny. The same look you would get when someone just did or said something stupid and you were working on your comedy routine for after they left. We miss you all the time. I just made your sister some coffee which I am bringing to her in bed. I know how tough a day today will be for her, for us.

Just as I was about to hit the send button, Jonathan just came downstairs and sat on my lap and asked all about you. I told him all about you. He also asked me for some milk, so off I go.

Brother it's been 5 years since you left us. We all still think about you and miss you. Rest in peace and thank you for keeping an eye out on us. I somehow get the feeling that you were riding with Katie a few months back when she was shot. Thank you for keeping her and the rest of us safe. Rest in peace and you will be forever missed.

Son,
It is the fifth aniversery of your death. Yes, death. Our hearts will never forget you. On This day I have gone over every move that happened on the day before your death. Your death changed our lives forever.
It is our strong belief in God that keeps us safe from the continued pain of your loss. In Jesus Christ we find relief from that horrible night when we were called to the hospital. You looked so peaceful that night. There was hardly a scratch on you. There was only a small cut above your eye. We prayed so hard for you to wake up, but God needed you more. He needs strong soldiers to help him with his work. I am sure you are as devoted to your new work as you were to everything you did while you were with us on earth. We love and miss you more than you will ever know.

It is almost midnight. I don't think I will be able to sleep tonight.
Love

I saw you the night before your pursuit. We briefly talked to eachother while waiting in line at medical at county. The next night you were involved in this pursuit. I had only been on my own for 6 months at the time. I heard you got in a wreck but went home not knowing it was as bad as it was. The next afternoon when I woke up the first thing I asked my wife was if she heard anything about you and she told me you had passed away. I have only cried once or twice since being an adult and that moment was one of them. I went to your funeral and saw your son. I see him now on Facebook and he looks so much like you. Love you brother.

Son
It is your Birthday time. Its only fitting that your birth should come at a most important time of the year. America's birthday!
I remember you as being as independant as our great American experience. That was one reason why you were such a good Officer! You are in our thoughts and hearts every minute of every hour of everyday. Your Father and I talk about you all the time. We miss you with all of our hearts
You left this world at the prime of our life. But your spirit will live on.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY OUR SPECIAL BLUE ANGEL!

I hope everyone in your family is doing ok.
Ashlyn , as my daughter gets older we get closer and closer. She is so awesome and so much fun. Sometimes when we are doing something fun or she says something funny I think about you and your dad. I am so sorry for your loss. There is a special bond between dads and their daughters, Your dad worshipped you..I hope you never doubt that.

In April, I went to DC with the family and the one and only thing I cared about seeing was your name on The Wall. Once I found you I couldn't stop crying. I think of that night often and never want to go through that again. Although we never got a chance to work together because we worked different divisions, you mean a lot to me. You will not be forgotten.

I did not know you, nor have ever met you, but some of my fellow Officers did. They spoke very highly of you. I check in on your page from time to time and noticed a reflection has not been left since February. I often think of you when i'm a little scared during a call, and always tell the anxious rookies i've trained about your story. Your good reputation has preceded you. I was just a kid when you started your career, but you have impacted my life as a Police Officer. I think about your children and wife and hope they are safe as well. Rest in Peace my Brother. We got it from here....Blessed are the peacekeepers, for they shall be called sons of God......
