We smile when we think of you and all the things you’ve done
We laugh at all the joy you’ve brought and all the battles won.
We are proud of your accomplishments and the uniform you wore
To comfort the scared, to protect the weak, for this we love you
more.
You gave your life in sacrifice in the pursuit to brighten
our darkest days.
You held the line against evil, and for this we shall give you praise.
We hurt because we miss you, we hurt be cause we care.
Though you may not be by this way again we hope to meet you there.
So fill the heavens with song and praise and save for me a dance,
There are those who cry because they knew you… I cry because I
was never offered the chance.

To the family of Officer Vogel my most heartfelt thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to you. I know this is your worst nightmare come true. May God ease your pain and carry you through this horribly tragedy. My husband was killed in the line of duty this year and I know too well what you are going through right now. Although you cannot see her, Robin is with you. She will always be by your side giving you some of her strength when you need it. Hold on to your family. Little things do not matter in the end. Love each other and laugh and rejoice with all the memories you have.

“REMEMBER ME”
Law enforcement officers are, indeed, a special breed of people. Ask anyone on the street and they will tell you that they would not have our jobs for anything in the world. It takes something special to do what we do and at the same time be able to even contemplate retirement. We try to be optimists. Unfortunately, there are a few of us who will never make that date with retirement. By the very nature of our job, we are at risk everyday of losing our lives, either at the hand of some deranged individual or in some other situation that we, by virtue of our occupation, may be unable to avoid. Some people have recognized the hazardous duties we involve ourselves in, the risks we take, and the pride we take in accomplishing that job. There is National Law Enforcement Week, dedicated to us who gladly accept the responsibility of protecting the citizens in our respective jurisdictions. National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Day is dedicated to those who gave their lives in the line of duty. These are but a two examples of remembrances specifically for law enforcement personnel. Remembrances that come but once a year. We should remind fellow officers of another type of remembrance, one that will last a lifetime. Sooner or later, a doctor will pronounce us dead. It is inevitable. Regardless of whatever happens, death is the end we will all have to face.

I would like to express my deepest condolences to Officer Vogel's family. Robin and I had played softball together on the Trauma Squad for several years and had became good friends. Robin's warm personality touched everybody she came in contact with. I will forever miss her professionalism on the street's as well as her friendship on the diamond. "They Gave Their All"

On the day they had to fall,
they gave their all.
Wearing brown or blue,
they were protecting and serving you.

It started as just a simple call
and ended in tragedy.
"Officer down," the radio announced.
At the scene the brave man pronounced dead,
The killers had fled.
Another widow cries,
yet no one tries
to stop the killing
of these men and women willing
to risk their lives everyday for you.

Always remember the law enforcement
that gave their all,
on the day they had to fall.
