Months before the accident that took you from the amazing people who worked with you, knew you as a person, or was blessed to have you in their family, you were driving me, a student interested in LEO work, down Garfield at about eighty, maybe eighty-five miles per hour. I about crapped myself as we got airborne at a couple of intersections. You had done this before, because you slowed down to a modest fifty and we both about smashed our heads against the roof. I had my seatbelt on, I can't remember if you did or not. You told me something that stuck with me, "It's alright to be afraid. You have every right to be afraid!" And within a minute we were on scene and others on the shift had already started to process the situation, we made it there in time to decide to find somewhere else to be.

When things are amping up, it's alright to have that fear hit you. Just don't stop doing what you're doing, it will be fine later to wipe out your underwear and laugh about it. You loved your job, you had great things going on. Your presence is missed, you'd probably be on your second career after you found out that retirement can get boring.

Hard to believe you could have retired by now. You will be forever missed. I am forever indebted to you and others who gave their lives to protect me, my family, and our community. Robin, you should still be with us.

I went to visit your name on the national law-enforcement officer memorial wall. Like so many names on that wall this world lost a great person. So many still talk so fondly about you. DUI enforcement is always an important aspect of law enforcement and after your death your department has become a leader in the removal of impaired drivers. The Decatur/ Macon county agencies have invested a lot of training into its officers to continue removing impaired drivers. Your death has inspired so many officers to remove impaired drivers from the road saving countless lives.

Happy Birthday! (I'm a day late as usual). We should have been celebrating our birthday week - with Really Bad Birthday Butter Cake from that expensive bakery. Your light in my heart still shines bright - I miss you my sister-friend.
