My husband and I are runners, and State Street is one of our routes. It seemed as if Officer Gregg was always working, we saw him so often. Always a comforting presence, always a smile. Now, I can hardly run that route without crying.

What happened the night of September 29 was truely a shock for most people. To take the life of an officer and to try to take on of another is just wrong. I want to send my deepest thoughts to Officers Greggs family and just to let then know that i am truely sorry that this had to happen to them.

Brian, you made the ultimate sacrifice doing the job you dearly loved. You were the best family friend and an important role model to our sons. You made a positive impression on every life you touched and were always there to lend a hand. May God bless and watch over your family. Rest in Peace. We'll miss you, now and always.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Valor, Integrity, Sacrifice. When a good man is lost, everyone loses, until the qualities they stood for triumph, as they must. Peace to you. Thank you. Gratitude, deep respect and love to your family.

In March 2004, I had the opportunity to instructor Officer Gregg in the four day IPMBA 'Police Cyclist' certification program and found him to be very enthusiastic about his new found career in law enforcement and as a bike patrol officer.
It is truely an honor to have had that time with him and he will no doubt be missed by his family, friends, the officers within his department but also the members of the community that he desired to serve.
You can rest in peace Officer Gregg as you have made a difference.

As a wife of an officer it is understood that you put your life on the line for society and try to protect those that are in need and that one day you may not come home afterwards. As a dispatcher we try to protect you in anyway that we can even though we know we have no control of what happens on the street. Thank you Brian for protecting us in the life you have lived as I know you'll be looking down and watching over all of us as we will never forget you.
My condolences are with the family and to the Newtown Boro Police Department as I know this is a very difficult time for all.
Finally to all those involved in law enforcement may god watch over you to keep you safe and let you come home when the day is done

Deeply sorrowful, I leave a reflection about another brave soldier killed by a cowardly enemy. I hope the community will show appreciation for the sacrifice Officer Gregg has made, and outrage for this violent attack. To the citizens in this community, I ask that you do your civic duty and punish this ruthless criminal for the brutal murder of this decent husband and father. With swift justice, sentence this murderer to the most severe penalty. Officer Gregg, may the memory of your heroism, service and sacrifice remain forever. I will honor you at your funeral. May God bless you, your family and fellow officers in the Newtown Borough Police Department.

I met Brian last summer at Core Creek Park, the site of a day care picnic. I was there with my sister, niece and mother. He was working that afternoon and was able to slide out of the borough for a short time to see his family and others that had children that went to the same day care. He and his police car were a HUGE HIT. He was patient with each and every child, answering every question.

My sister introduced me to Brian and we immediately began to “talk shop”. We talked about how much the area had changed since I patrolled the streets of Lower Bucks County and all the TRAFFIC now. Regardless, we talked for sometime and I remember my sister looking over at me as if she were saying “aren’t you done yet?” It didn’t faze Brian or I, we sat down and eat together.

Brian struck me as a wonderful person and one that will be missed by many. His career in law enforcement may have been short, but the impressions and friendships that he made will last forever.

The time you gave was precious and memorable. In rest, your memory remains.

TEARS OF A COP

I have been where you fear to be
I have seen what you fear to see
I have done what you fear to do
All these things I've done for you

I am the one you lean upon
The one you cast your scorn upon
The one you bring your troubles to
All these people I've been for you

The one you ask to stand apart
The one you feel should have no heart
The one you call the officer in blue
But I am human, just like you

And through the years I've come to see
That I am not what you ask of me
So take this badge and take this gun
Will you take it?
WILL ANYONE?
And when you watch a person die
And hear a battered baby cry
Then you think that you can be
All those things you ask of me?

People ask...
Why do we take a job with little pay and even less respect?
Do we like the violence, the sorrow, the heartache, and the pain?
When they ask this...
I don't say a word....because they wouldnt understand that is all about your brother standing next to you on that thin blue line...and thats all there is.

Officer Gregg.

I saw you almost every day I was in Newtown Borough (which was quite often). Your presence will be missed.

On Christmas Day 2003, you pulled me over outside of Starbucks in Newtown. I was looking for coffee and had made an illegal right turn on red. I had out of state plates and you told me you stopped me because I was lost.

You wished me a happy holiday and suggested 7/11 as the only place I might find coffee on this particular day and sent me on my way. You took the high road. You could have ruined my holiday with a ticket, but instead stopped me to help. I've told that story a lot this week.

You're a righteous person. You were doing the right thing. Everyone talks of you as if they've known you forever, because of your presence there in Newtown Borough. You're the only policeman I could recognize by face. No other Newtown or Bucks County Officer could I know as, 'hey, that's the Newtown Borough cop'.

You're missed man.
Rest easy Officer Gregg.

I am a retired officer from the Levittown area and served with the Marine Police on the Delaware river as well as with the Penna Fish & Boat Commission of which area covered Newtown.
I was in deep shock to here of this mishap and it hits close to home. Retired in Punta Gorda Florida I am involved in our local hospital as Chief of Security and cannot stress to much the need for restraint in Hospitals as this fear is with me daily.

My heart goes out to the family members of Officer Gregg and the officers of Newtown Police in their hours of mourning.
