Mario,
I have tried to write this so many times. Words are not sufficient to describe what a good person and man you are. I will aways think of it as my great privelage to have known you, worked with you, joked with, train dogs, and learn from you. You had such a great heart and character. I will aways remember chasing the bad guys into the woods/swamp with you, building the fence, tracking with the dogs, tipping a few, and "da corps"! So many good thoughts and feelings from having known you, will eventually help with getting past the hurt of missing you around here. I know for sure now that the streets of heaven are guarded by the USMC. Your family is always in our prayers, take care gyrene. Woody

Mario,
It is with deepest sorrow and sadness that I have to leave a message about a fellow Officer and Friend. It has taken me several attempts to try and put into words everything your Family needs to hear from a fellow co-worker & friend to honor your short time with us as a member of the UCF Police department. I'll always remember the laughs we've had and the great one liners that just rolled off your tongue. I know you'll keep our fallen brothers in high spirits as you watch over us each and everyday. There won't be a day that goes by I will not think about you and your family. Rest in Peace.

Valerie,
I just wanted to tell you that Mario adored you, cherished you, respected you and Loved you with all of his heart. I know that you already knew that but I wanted you to hear it again from someone who saw him glow when he spoke to his "Momma Bear".

Mr. & Mrs. Jenkins,

I have had the honor to meet you both a couple of times and I know Mario Loved and Respected you both very much. You should both be very proud and at peace knowing you raised a very patrotic and dedicated American who loved you and his country very much. Mario's life ended when he was doing something he enjoyed and felt passionate about. Mario's Life will never be forgotten.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

I want to say hello and God bless to the Jenkins family. I attended High School with your son Mario, and he was a great man to know and to be around with. I just found out today what took place with your son and I feel very grieved and upset. Mario always had a smile on his face and he will be missed and always remebered. I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD BE ME,
MY NAME FOR ALL ETERNITY.
RECORDED HERE AT THIS HALLOWED PLACE,
ALAS MY NAME, NO MORE MY FACE.
"IN THE LINE OF DUTY" I HEAR THEM SAY,
MY FAMILY NOW HAS THE PRICE TO PAY.
MY FOLDED FLAG STAINED WITH TEARS,
WE ONLY HAD THOSE FEW SHORT YEARS.
THE BADGE NO LONGER ON MY CHEST,
I SLEEP NOW IN ETERNAL REST.
MY SWORD I PASS TO THOSE BEHIND,
AND PRAY THEY KEEP THIS IN MIND.
I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ME,
AND WITH HEAVY HEART ON BENDED KNEE,
I ASK FOR ALL THOSE HERE FROM THE PAST,
PLEASE GOD, "LET MY NAME BE THE LAST!"

We miss you Mario....

Hey Doc,
Sorry for taking so long to write this but I was wishing that this were some nightmare and I would come out of it soon. I love you and I miss you. The times we shared are priceless. I can't remember how many times I would hit you up on the Nextel for that "special" message. You always laughed. You are an amazing person and the world has lost an amazing individual. They say everything happens for a reason and that's the only thing that keeps me going. You did a great job here and I guess someone else needed your help. I know you will not let them down. Like others have mentioned, coffee will never taste the same, "poop" will never sound as funny, and sandwiches...well, sandwiches are always gonna be sandwiches. Mario, it is an honor to call you my friend. You touched my life in so many ways. I will never forget you my friend.

Officer Jenkins:

Althought I did not know you, I felt as though I did. I left employment with the UCF Police Department just as you arrived. However, in my heart, I will always be a part of the UCF family. How unfortunate for me, not to have gotten the opportunity to know or meet you. The more I learn about you, the more I realize what a dedicated troop you really were. Please know that you are thought of with respect and honor. You gave the ultimate sacrifice, and you will be remembered! All of our thoughts and prayers continue to be with your family and friends.
