My fiancé, Dennis McElderry, was the first law enforcement casualty of 2003. Dennis was a Deputy Sheriff with the Davis County Sheriff's Office in SE Iowa. Dennis died doing a job he loved, just as I'm sure Ruben did. It saddens me to know that Dennis was not the first to die in the line of duty, nor will he and Ruben be the last to die this way.

Having gone through the pain of losing Dennis I can truly understand and feel the pain that Sergeant Orozco's family, friends, and co-workers are going through in losing him. My heart goes out to you all, especially to his wife. No one can truly understand the pain of our loss until they've walked in our shoes. Please know that my thoughts are with you and that you are not alone in your "journey". Should you ever need anything please do not hesitate to contact me. (The Davis County Sheriff's Office and COPS will also always know how to reach me.)

As a fallen officer "survivor" and a friend, please accept my condolences on behalf of myself and the McElderry family. I never got the opportunity to know Ruben but, I am certain he was well respected and well loved. Ruben will live on in the hearts of all the lives he touched. You were all blessed to have been able to know and love Ruben, even for a short time. I pray that Ruben and Dennis will continue to watch over us along with all the other fallen officers all as only they can.

Thank you Sergeant Orozco for a job well done and for helping to make this world a safer place for us all. Please say "hello" to my fiancé Dennis for me.

Wishing you and all those who loved you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Thank you Sgt. Ruben Orozco for your 26 years of dedicated service to the El Paso community. To the Orozco family my sincere condolences, may the Lord be with you during this time of need. I know how it is to loose a father to such a sudden untimely passing. Take one day at a time, there’s no set time to stop grieving. You have those precious memories, and believe me when I tell you that he’ll visit you in your dreams and it’s these dreams and memories that will keep all of you going. In Christ there are no goodbyes and there is no end. Until then, keep you faith and hope alive with your father’s memories, you’ll see him again one day. God Bless…

I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free;
I took His hand when I heard Him Call; I turned my back and left it all. If my parting has lefted a void; Then fill it with remembered joy. My life's been full, I savored much; Good friends, good times, aloved one's touch. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss; Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief; Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me; God wanted me now, He set me free.
-My thoughts and prayers go out the the family and friends.God Bless you all for your courage and my God be with you all. L.O.of El Paso, Texas

"cry for me a little but not too much.
It is not good for you to allow your thoughts to dwell too long on the dead.
Think of me now and again as i was in life.
Let me leave in peace"

our loved ones that have passed on will always be remembered. But lets remember them with a smile and the way they lived there life , not the way they died. This is not a good bye forever , we will all be together again someday!!

my thoughts and prayers are sent out to you orozco family. God bless you and comfort your hearts until you are again all together.
