I was the first undercover minor for the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission back in 1994, I was a Police Explorer for El Paso Police Department and I had the honor to meet Sergeant Ruben Orozco, he was part of the team which hekped with our surveillance for a period of time. He amongst other great law enforcement officers through out my life have been my role models to becoming a great law enforcement officer some day. I came to california and recently graduated from a police academy, I am not affiliated yet, and it was with my desbelief to see his picture as a down officer in this website as I checked for job opportunities. It is with saddest condolences to his family and agency. It's a regreat to loose such fine peace officer to a tragic accident. Sincerely Daniel Hernandez

I just wanted to express my sorrow for the loss of Ruben. I worked with Ruben many years ago. I never expected to hear so soon that Ruben was gone. It is always something that is known when you do what Ruben and I did,, but he was always so carreful watching out for everyone. I remember a time working the crosswalk at a UTEP Basketball game and a car did not stop. Ruben yelled at everyone in the crosswalk to stop. The car kept going ad Ruben got the license plate, but no one in the crosswalk was hurt. Ruben always watching out for us all. Now i guess he has the best seat of all to continue watching out for us.

My condolences to the Orozco family. El Paso Sheriff's Department has lost an outstanding leader. I met Sgt. Orozco through his brother, Eddie. Eddie and I were partners for the Anthony and Socorro Police Department. It was an honor to be associated with such a great person, friend, leader, and public servant. Sgt. When I left the Sheriff's Department five years ago, some of my fondest memories were of the times we worked together. This year I watched the SunBowl on TV from my home in Florida and of all the Deputies I saw, I could only recognize you. I still have trouble believing this tragedy happened to you, but I know you're in a better place. My thoughts are with your family and the other members of the EPSO. God Bless.

Sergeant Orozco was an example of what an Officer should be. His ethics and integrity were above reproach. I know because I was one of many officers he investigated for IA. I always left his office knowing that I would be dealt without bias. I really grew to respect him greatly not only as an officer but as a person as well. I feel grateful to have known this man and I thank his family for sharing him with us all. God Bless you!

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

My condolences to the Orozco Family. I first met Ruben when he was with IA, and he seemed like such a BIG person, in size to me, making me fear him so. Within my 4 years with EPSO I learned to fear him less and appreciate his presence. He was always smiling and happy-go-lucky. The last time I saw him was during my internship with Crime Prevention in the early part of this year. It was great to see him since my leaving in 1998. He will be greatly missed, but it is good to know that a Sergeant Angel will be looking over us from above.

Mr. Orozco and family,
Your daughter was my best friend here in Hawai'i. Although I never met you, I know that you raised a beautiful, kind and wonderful daughter. Your spirit continues through her, and the wonderful person that she is. My family sends all of our love, and may the Lord rain all of His blessings upon your family here on earth, as you watch over them in Heaven.

I cannot tell you how fortunate I feel to have known Ruben. Our time together as partners in Criminal Investigations was very special. Ruben was a good teacher, mentor and friend. Though our careers took us to different areas of the Office, the friendship and bond never faltered. As I was blessed to have known Ruben, so too were the many people whose lives he touched. Though no longer among us, Ruben will forever remain with us in our hearts. I pray that as he watches over us that his family will find comfort in knowing that Ruben was loved, respected and admired by so many whose lives he touched. God Bless you Ruben, the world is a better place because of you.
