Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Tara Marie Drummond

To think we did not say goodbye will always bring regret, but hearts that always loved you are the one's that wont forget.

The memory of the righteous is a blessing.
Proverbs 10:7

I will never forget the lessons in life that I learned from knowing you. Thank you for your service, I will see you again. Until the end, I will honor you! Love, Michael

This day comes with sad regret, 09-13-2006

This day comes with sad regret, the time,the place we will never forget. You left without a last goodbye, and memories that will never die. Your not just a memory or part of the past, we will always remember you for as long as life lasts.Out of our lives you may have gone, but in our hearts you still live on.For this poem will ring true, we live for the beat, and we honor you,

I can't believe it's almost been a year. I still remember the smile on your face like yesterday. It's comforting to read the support that you have amongst those across the country. We will always remember you and the lives that you touched while alive and beyond. You are a true hero in our eyes, and may we never rest contendedly until we have solidified your place in history for the remarkable deeds which you accomplished. Your compassion for standing up for what is right and protecting the people from what is wrong is a trademark of your personality and a barometer for all to follow. From the bottom of my heart, I say I miss you, Tara. You were a blessing in my life, and there's no way to replace you.

Love, Matthew

To Tara's family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers,

Although I am not a law enforcement officer, just merely a citizen, I was shocked and hurt at this tragic loss of an officer. I realize that it has been almost a year since Tara's death, but I know that it will not go forgotten. I pray for the family and friends of Officer Tara Drummond and for all law enforcement agencies and ask them to remember this:

EACH ONE OF US IS BORN FOR A SPECIFIC REASON AND PURPOSE, AND EACH ONE OF US WILL DIE WHEN HE OR SHE HAS ACCOMPLISHED WHATEVER WAS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED. THE
IN-BETWEEN DEPENDS ON OUR OWN WILLINGNESS TO MAKE THE BEST OF EVERY DAY, OF EVERY MOMENT, OF EVERY OPPORTUNITY. THE CHOICE IS ALWAYS YOURS.

~~Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
~~~~Taken from "Chicken Soup for the Grieving Soul"~~~~
This poem particulary inspired me to go on after losing my mother when I was 18 and a senior in high school. My mom was only 44 and died from a massive coronary heart attack.
May God Bless Tara's family and all law enforcement officers.
Sincerely,
Rebekiah Clore
I miss you so much. I think of you everyday and that will never change. I know I can't change the way things happened. This is something that I have had to make myself understand. Even though there are no answers. But I can say that if I was going to do it all over again. I wouldn't change a thing. Above all, many things change in life. But one thing will never change, and for this one thing I am forever grateful: You were an angel on earth, and you still are, and you always will be.
I dedicate my entire law enforcement career to your honor. Im sure Class 219 as a whole feels the same way,
Tara,
It still seems strange for me that you do not work here at VTRC anymore and that I will not see you and listen to your infectious laugh. You are missed by your family, friends, co-workers and all those whose lives you touched.
We will always remember you. We are honoring your memory with the park and on the Silver Comet Trail. So many people have come together to help us with getting it started - I think you would be touched to know how much and how many people care about you. I hope you will proudly look upon this park as a special place for your family and your spirit when it is finished.
May you rest in peace in heaven,
Lani
Officer Drummond as we pay respects and honor you this day in a fund raising you are sorely missed. The life and compassion you exressesed to your fellow people was an example of love for mankind. The love of animals was expressed in the same way. So today as we enjoy the sunlight of another day and this [golf] fund event will relect the warm of "YOUR LOVE". The Silver Comet Trail "PET STOP" will florish because of the love we have for you and you chosen profession. To a SAFE TOUR in GODS HANDS. Officer "HAWK" Hawkins
Tina & Brian,
I know every day since Sep 13, 2005 has been hard...but oh, how hard today must have been. Tara's birthday, 24 years ago today. Tina, I still remember Mama flying home from Germany to be there with you -- and the beginning of a precious relationship between her and Tara. It's comforting to know Mama was there waiting for Tara in Heaven and they are rejoicing together. And Brian, what an absolutely wonderful job you did raising Tara with Tina more than 20 of her short 23 years on earth. What a honorable, respectable thing to love Tara as your own, to raise her in your home, to be her father through the good times and the bad...making sure she always knew you were there for her, no matter what! No one else could have done such an amazing job raising Tara. Tina and Brian, the Christian values you live every day are directly reflected in Tara. What a testimony to God. We love you deeply and share this day with you honoring Tara in our thoughts and prayers. I love you Sis!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TARA!!!
Just sitting here laughing thinking about how for some reason, you and I use to try to sing the worst sounding birthday song to each other. The worst it sounded the more we laughed so the better it was. I still don't think
I will ever be able to top your Prince inpersonation birthday song, but I sure will try.
I love you bunches,
Stephanie
Dear Tim,
Words alone can not express our deep gratitude for what you did for our Tara. It was wonderful meeting you and Melissa. We shared hugs, tears, and stories of Tara with you both. I was so touched by your selflessness and will wear the braclet you gave me in honor of Tara forever. You are part of the family of officers but you will always remain an important part of our family as well.
Thank You to the Officers below from Connecticut. We were in & out at the Wall and would have loved to have met with you. There were so many great Officers from all over the county. Just like you, they came to remember and honor and they completed their missions with absolute success. Tara and the fallen others from 2005 were the focus and it is so much appreciated. There were so, so many names. It broke my heart also to read so many of the stories and listen to many of you tell about your Officer. Thank you to COPS, FOP, NLEMF, and every Officer.
We met President Bush, receiving hugs and tremendous compassion. Just like each of you, his eyes and your eyes gave you away. The care and concern was real, honest, and full of character and integrity. Thank You Mr. President for caring about all of the survivor families. Thank you also for caring so deeply about the greatest family organism ever to exist, that of Law Enforcement.
Thank you Tracy for riding for Tara. We teared up together and shared a few of the most precious moments. We will never forget those moments and we will never forget you and your husband. Every Officer who rides in the Unity Tour and carry's a Fallen Officer's bracelet should contact the family and arrange to meet. We can never express the positive impact.
Friday, May 19 is Tara's birthday. She would have been 24. There are several vigil's scheduled for that evening.
Tuesday, May 23 is the Georgia State Memorial Wall Service. Please remember the 10 survivor families from Georgia.
Even though the next several days will be difficult, our time with all of you in DC is a solid foundational experience that will see us through with strength and character.
We will soon add pictures from the Georgia Memorial Ride and also from DC on Tara's web site. Please check back often and those of you who are our new friends, contact us through the site, we want to never forget each of you and your stories.
In 2006, I rode the Police Unity Tour ride in your honor. I met your parents and your sister and was extremely proud to have been riding for you. It was truly an experience and I will always think of you as my angel. You will never be forgotten and I will always wear the bracelet your mother, Tina gave me the day I rode into the wall...May 13, 2006. Know you will always be in my heart!
