Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Roy Lundell Nelson, Jr.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and fellow officers of Officer Roy Nelson, Jr and his K-9 partner Ceasar.

To Officer Roy Nelson , the oath “To Serve and Protect” were not just words spaced apart, they were a part of his soul, his daily job, and his heart. He will be greatly missed by his family, his fellow officers, and the citizens of New Smyrna Beach. He was Husband, a Father, a Hero, and a Cop.

Remember the next time you are out with your family or friends, and you see a patrol car go by, remember the incredible sacrifice made by these officers every day. They all have familes they leave behind when they go to work “to protect and serve”you and your family. Our prayers are now with you,Roy and Ceasar.

The citizens of New Smyrna Beach appreciate the time you both spent serving, of our honor, you both are deserving. Your dedication and courage will be remember often, and for that, you both will never be forgotten.

Roy you were "MY PROTECTOR"!! You protected me like only a big brother would. I will work everyday knowing that you are still protecting me from above. I feel honored and privilaged to have had the pleasure to have worked with you. I will sincerely miss your sense of humor(wake up and smell the flowers Algernon, or shall I say "RT"')!!

We have lost a great man. My sadness is to great for words. You will never be replaced or forgotten!!! We will go on because that is what we do, but it will never be the same!!

Anyone who's known a man that wears a star on his chest,
Understands that he's patrolling so all can rest.

Working during bad weather, holidays and weekends.
Riding throughout the county without commends.

Long hours, meager pay; he is a person just like you.
Except for the courageous job he's sworn to do.

The things he sees each day; he has a family of his own.
More than most, he's thankful to near home.

Each day he puts on his uniform, vest and gun,
All too aware this could be his last one.

It's anyone's guess, this may be his time to die.
All could happen in a blink of an eye.

For you, he would gladly be destined to eternal rest.
For you, he wears a Silver Star on his chest.

He took an oath to serve and protect.
What he deserves is the people's respect

Rest in peace along with your fellow K-9 officer, and thanks for your heorism and for the ultimate sacrafice you paid. You will never be forgotten and will be missed

I started writing about a dozen different things here and they all just fell apart. Maybe when we meet again I will be able to express myself.
