Tim -

You've got a new guys up there today. Show him the ropes, and guide him. You were always a good FTO.

Keep watch over us down here... We miss you bud. We'll see each other before you know it...

Tim,

Unfortunately another TPD officer joined you and Patrick today. Make sure to show him around and teach him the ropes of heaven. I know you still watch over us and thank you for that. Until we meet again in heaven, God Bless you.

Well, Tim..where do I begin? It's gonna be three years in
August since you left and there's not a day that goes by I don't think of you. When I'm working at the jail, I still wait to see if you're going to come through the sally-port. I pray for your family as often as I can. You will always be in our hearts and minds. We miss you so very, very much. Keep watching over all of our brothers and sisters, and keep them safe.

Tim -

We all miss you very much. I can't believe its been almost 3 years since we lost you.

I know you're up there watching down on us. C and I are expecting our 2nd child in September. Docs say the baby's a girl.

Keep an eye on us all down here... Keep pushing at me when I give up - seems like you're always there when I am tired and need some motivation. It will all pay off soon I hope.

We miss you bud. But we'll all be together someday... save me a seat, okay?

Deputy Graham,

I just graduated from SALETC. They still talk highly of you at the academy. One instructor mentioned your smile.

I noticed your class guidon missing, and the Sergeant told us it was with you.

Thanks man. We'll keep you proud.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Hi Tim,

Well, Morgan Ainsley is here and she is an angel! I don't feel like I have to tell you this because there is a picture of you in her crib and one night I put her in there to attend to something else and when I came back she was giving one of her first smiles while kicking her legs and waving her arms seemingly self entertaining. But there was more excitement in the air and maybe she was laughing with her silly Uncle Tim... I hope you all met before she got here and that she somehow gets to know you throughout her life. She has so many good people in her life and you are one of them so please visit often because we love you very much!

Always, Julie

Hey, kid. I'm comin' up on the last few years and I'm trying really hard to help the young bloods make their bones. It's hard, there's so many of them and so few of us old heads. Gets a little hairy out here with them, too, and I'm trying to keep them safe - trying to stay safe myself. There's still a tear in my heart where you left us. I was so sure, prayed so hard, that I would survive 20 without loosing a little brother. Help us not loose anymore. Help me look after them and be their 78. Be mine, too.

Tim -

Here it is again... the anniversary approches. We miss you down here, and I know we will never forget you. I've talked with Sherry, and we both agree that you are looking down on us.

The boys are so well behaved... I've sent them a couple of cards for their birthdays. Tim - you have given us all so much... and your sacrifice, while it is sad to think of, will never be in vain.

Rest in peace brother! Keep watch over us all.

The day Timothy was tragically taken from the earth, I was at the McDonalds on Ajo & Kinney. I remember turning my attention to the left and saw Timothy struggling with the man. That image will forever be burned into my mind. I was with a young girl, and I was so afraid that they would come into the store. I was so afraid for the little girl's life sitting across from me. I really and truly believe that Timothy is a hero and a guardian angel sent from heaven that night. Because of him, lives were protected that night. I only wish I could have thanked him for his bravery and heroism that night.

Thank you my hero....

One of the most moving experiences of my life happened in conjunction with Deputy Graham's tragic death. We are all too familiar with the endless procession of patrol cars and motors that accompany an officer's funeral procession. But I was not prepared for the display I witnessed as Deputy Graham's body was simply moved from the scene of the accident to the office of the medical examiner. This incident happened late in the evening, and the move to OME was in the middle of the night. Every intersection along the eight mile route was closed. The line of escorting patrol cars seemed endless as it passed right by our comm center. As the white OME van carrying Deputy Graham approached I couldn't quite believe what I was seeing. The van was bathed in bright white light. The Tucson Police Department's helicopter, Air One, flew the entire route, from well outside their normal jurisdiction, keeping the van continuously awash in the light of their powerful spotlight. The thought came to me that they did this so that Tim Graham would not have to make this trip in darkness. I didn't know Tim, but I can still see that van moving "in a light from above" and the tears well up. I've never learned if this incredible effort was pre-planned or a spur of the moment idea by the air crew, but it's one of the most heart-wrenching events I've ever witnessed. I cannot imagine a more powerful gesture. I carry Deputy Graham's memorial coin, and his journey that night under the watchful protection of his fellow officers was a sight I will never forget.

The holidays are hard darling. It is when I miss you the most. The boys have grown so much, you would be so proud. We speak of you often, and laugh about the fun times we had. Maxine, Julie, Peter...Charlie and Shawna miss you too...McKay still recognizes your picture, she cried when she saw your memorial at Ajo and Kinney. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you, I miss your smile and our talks in the swing. I know you are well, and in loving arms...but I wish they were still mine. I love you and miss you crazy...

To all of Tims Family and Friends.

It has ben a long time since I had talked to Tim. I lived with him and his Mother when I was young and had a newborn as a teenager. Tim and I were very close. He was a wonderful human being and had a heart of Gold. Those of us who were fortunate enough in life to have known him are truly blessed. My thoughts and Prayers are with you all.

Tim,
I just want to say THANK you for looking out for me on the 11th. I was in a fight for my life and I honestly feel that you were there and had something to do with the outcome. Even though my weapon failed me, my mind did not and I thank you. 198 and 905 and I went to the memorial that night at the beginning of the shift and I asked you to watch out for us and now I know you did. THANK YOU!!!

To the family and loved ones of Deputy Sheriff Timothy David Graham and his fellow officers with the Pima County Sheriff's Department:

On this the first anniversary week of Tim's tragic death, I wanted to honor and remember him today. Although I never had the privilege of meeting Tim, I feel as if I know him through the loving reflections left by loved ones and friends. His valor and courage will never be forgotten.

I hope that God is holding him in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

I am so sorry that Tim was robbed of his life so tragically, but through his heroism and the profound sense of duty with which he lived his life, he made an immeasurable difference. May his spirit continue to soar and may his memory continue to inspire.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Tim gave to his community and the citizens of Arizona, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on August 10, 2005.

Your family is in my thoughts on this first anniversary. I wish there were some magic words I could offer them to help them with their pain, but there are none. All I can suggest is to take one day at a time and to keep your memory alive. Keep watch over them and help them with their grief. Come to them in their dreams so that they can feel you close to them and know you are okay. You are a true hero and will never be forgotten.
